Burning more than I think

I'm petty sure I am burning more than I think. Most people doing vigorous exercise burn 10 cals/min so I usually go with that. But I am doing Insanity, P90X+, and running 5 miles @ 9:30. I'm curious to know how much you all burn on average and how you know.

For a 5 mile run at a 9:20 pace it was 14.65 calories per minute @ 170 lbs dressed. Numbers via Garmin 405cx HRM +GPS. For lifting about 8.5 cals per minute and that is no rest break lifting, with a running warm-up. If I don't run first it is about 6 calories per minute.0

Have you thought about getting a heart rate monitor?0

For your running speed, multiply your body weight in kg times 10. That will give you calories per hour. If 9:30 per mile is your running speed, you are probably burning a little less during the other workouts, mostly because the intensity is not continuous.0 -
