Thre is an inverse proportion between exercise intensity and %age of calories burned from fat.

Eg. If you are working at 25% intentisy....you'll burn 75% of your calories from fat/ If you're working at 75% intensity...you'll burn 25% of your calories from fat.

The thing is...at the higher Intensity, you'll burn MORE TOTAL CALORIES..

Your 25% workout might burn 50 calories....75% of which is 37.5.
Your 75% workou might burn 300 Calories....25% of which is 75,

So at the higher intensity you'll still burn more fat calories than at the lower zones.

Get your heart rate up and you'll get the full benefits through your entire body./

On the cross trainers and treadmills they have little lights that light up and tell you when you are in the fat burning area and the cardio area? Does that make sense???

Yes. Just aim for the "Cardio" light in that case. You'll get the most out of it.

Those machines are amazingly inaccurate when it comes to specifics. The calories burnt and the little graph (what you are referring to) are useless for anyone that uses them. Just aim at going as hard as you can!

By the way, Cardio = Fat burning. They are almost synonymous.
