Mine is dead to be buried at dawn!

I've been wanting a front loader but they are expensive--are they worth it to you?

We have a front load, and I guess I don't notice the difference except that I have to bend over to take out the clothes, which we just got the stand for ours so that's not too bad. But you also have to buy HE soap, which dedending on where you live can be hard to find. Our store don't carry it here so I usually stock up when I make it to a Walmart or Target.

Not sure if you bought one yet, but I prefer top-load.

Considering this post was from 2008, I really hope they've gotten one. 9 years of research is a bit over the top

I had Samsung front loader and a dryer for a while, totally worth it. Don't remember anything about it needing any special soap in the manual, but I don't have a septic tank so can't advise on that

God, I hate my Samsung front-loader. The danged thing is less than 4 years old and it's forever giving us trouble. The door latch thingie isn't sensitive enough so it doesn't know it's closed sometimes and it makes an annoying "eeeeh" noise and won't run until I kick it (no, seriously, I literally have to kick the door), or I get error messages and I have to go get out the manual and figure out what the heck its trying to tell me, and usually, it's telling me NOTHING and I just have to start all over a few times until it works right. Plus it stinks sometimes, even though we leave the door open (which is a pain, given its location, and you can't help but whack your shin on it once in a while) and even though we clean out the filter and dry out the little lippie thing like you're supposed to. So we have to do an empty load on super-hot with washing machine cleaner sometimes to de-funkify it. AND I miss how I could put my stinky workout clothes in my top-loader and leave the lid open so it would soak for a while before it ran the cycle. And I'm convinced that the fabric softener isn't being evenly distributed, although my husband says I'm biased because of my hate-on for the thing, which is probably accurate, if we're being honest. I'm determined to hate every single thing about that *kitten*.

Give me a 20-year-old top loader with a mechanical knob anyday over these newfangled electronical doohickeys. Piece of crap.

To be fair, her brother, the matching Samsung dryer bought at the same time, is lovely and we have no issues.

(Yes, I know this is a necro thread. But as long as its here, I thought you ought to have my $.02 in case anyone else is relying on this thread.)
