The New Kid

Hello! I guess you could say i'm a "new kid" on here. I've heard many good things about this site and wanted to give it a try. Just to give you a little history on my weight, i've never been "small" a day in my life. I've always somewhat struggled with my weight. But I''ve NEVER been this big. I always thought I looked better for my weight because at 5'8", i'm slighty taller than most females, but lately reality has really set in and i'm seeing my true size. It's really starting to affect me and my confidence is slowly fading. I need that confidence back! When I was 20 years old, I was around 200 lbs and dieted and lost around 30 lbs then gained all the weight back.... and then some more. I'm 26 years old now and I'm tired of being self-conscious about my weight. I'm going on a trip to see my friends in another state in 2 months and i remember last year I went to visit them and I was down and hard on myself because I was depressed because of my size. I want to feel good this time. So I have a goal to see how much weight I can lose before my trip. The initial change in diet and lifestyle to get healthier and thinner is the hardest, which is why i've set a short goal for now. But i think that once i start seeing and feeling results, it will motivate me to stick with the new lifestyle. With this short goal I have for now, my plan is to use this site to track calories but i'm actually trying to eat a little fewer calories than it calculated for me. It calculated around 1350 calories daily but i'm aiming for around 1200. i'm also trying my hardest to not eat after 6:00 at night, or 7:00 at the latest. I heard that makes a big difference. And i'm also working out daily, or aiming for 6 times a week for at least 30 minutes to an hour. I started this diet on Monday, and it's now Friday. I feel really good. I've found that i just generally feel better and have more energy. My problem is that I just LOVE food. So it will definitely be challenging. My main concern is that I don't want to get burnt out by eating the same things over and over again because I know the calories, and it's hard to find new foods that are low calorie foods. I just wanted some feedback and any suggestions on ways of not getting burnt out on diets. Also, i'm just curious for those who have lost weight, how long was it that YOU could tell a difference? I mean how long before clothes were looser or things you could notice on yourself, other than maybe just seeing that you're a few pounds lighter on the scale? I love that you can blog on here for support and feedback and can't wait to hear it!

Welcome. Non-starchy vegetables are very low in calorie and there are so many different kinds that you can continually change which veggies you are eating. I like mixing large amounts of veggies with smaller amounts of higher calorie foods. Lots of bulk, good taste, and not too many calories.0
