What are the net calories and what do they mean?

Consumed calories - exercise calories = net calories.
Net calories are the actual number of calories you are giving your body to function on.
So, if you consume 2000 calories total and burn 500 calories in exercise your NET calories = 1500 calories. That is what you're giving your body to function on.
Hope that helps.
BTW, your NET calories should be as close as possible to the number MFP gives you in your food diary. If it says 1500 because you've worked out and burned 300 calories, aim for as close to 1500 as possible.0
