low sodium dressings

Mix the following ingredients together:
1/3 cup reduced fat sour cream
1/3 cup fat free plain yogurt
2 tbsp honey
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 1/2 tsp lime zest
2 tsp lime juice
You can substitute lemon for lime if you like. I find taking all the zest from a decent sized lime is enough. This makes 6 servings of 2 tbsp each. Here are the numbers based on the ingredients I use.
47 calories
8 g carbs
1 g fat
2 g protein
16 mg sodium
5 mg cholesterol
Extremely tasty. Especially good on a salad with some chicken and/or fresh fruit like strawberries, blackberries, or blueberries.

There are tons of recipes out there. I found one by just googling my dressing type and put low sodium and recipe after it. Here is one for western dressing that I found on Yummly.com.
1/2 C reduced sodium ketchup
1/2 C vegetable oil
1/3 C sugar ( I used only 1/4 C and it was plenty sweet enough)
2 Tbsp lemon juice
1/4 Tsp pepper
1/4 C cider vinegar
1 onion grated (optional) I think 1/4 c would be good.
Mix all ingredients well; store in refrigerator.
It lists it as 24 servings 58 calories and only 56mg of sodium and 5g of Fat and 5g of carbs. I used less sugar and used a no sodium added ketchup and came up even less.0 -
