We all get hungry, so make sure you have some healthy options. Low cal veggies are great, as are denser options like fruit and nuts. It's amazing how satisfying a 1/4 cup of almonds can be. Whole wheat bread and pasta and brown rice stay with ya longer than their light weight cousins. Also, drink enough water.

You can figure this out, stay with it!

5-6 small meals is where its out. Do you like apples dipped in peanut butter? I often snack on half an apple and 1 Tablespoon of Simply Jiff.

Also an avocado is a great substitute for meat one meal a day. You can DO this!

Buck up. If someone held a gun to the head of someone you loved very much and said if you didn't get under 229 in a week, they'd kill them, then how long would it take you to get to 228?

That's the terms you have to think in................just how important it is to you. If it ain't that important, you won't do it. Tough love.

Like yourself....I get to a certain weight and always gain it back for some reason or another....because I think I deserve to eat or believe I can eat like I used to. The weight always comes back. Well, this time I have decided to really dig inside myself and find out why I always sabatoge myself. SOOO...I started my own personal blog here on mfp, just for me to read. I don't write in it daily but I try to do it a couple of times a week. Maybe it might help you.

For soem people. For people like me 5-6 small meals is the kiss of death. It makes me miserable to have to portion out all those little snacks, and it means I can't just EAT when its convenient/available, I have to PLAN for it.

Cwood323 --- If you feel like you really struggle with hunger at this weight, why don't you try eating maintenance for a week or two? Kinda let things settle in. Alternately -- slow down your loss to 1/2 pound or 1 pound. whatever is one step up from what you eat now? That's an extra 250 calories a day which is a scoop of protein powder and a glass of milk. that will really help your hunger.

I personally think that if you are hungry, you need to eat more. And for later when you are in maintenance you need to learn to eat ENOUGH more - more but not so much you gain weight. Might as well practice now.

I was thinking about the same thing today ..

I'm @ 189 and seem to be stuck , it seems that there is a part of me that still does not believe that i can go lower.
It happened at 194 ..and finally i pushed through.

I think it's all in the mind..we are stress that this number is the one that makes up trip or fail.
I just put the scale away for a few weeks ..so I stop stressing about the numbers...and just keep doing what I know needs to be done .

    Now I'm thinking 185 HERE I COME !!

    We can do this !

Guys, thank you for all the support. I was just reaching out for a little support, and I have to say it's amazing you guys came through , it's 1:07 here on the east coast and i'm up late working on a project. My mind keeps wondering into my pantry as the time passes. It's gonna be a late night, and I'm determined not to snack on anything. I don't have trash in the house besides a few bottles of wine, but i'm keeping my hands clean tonight to make up for my lack of exercise today. Thanks a lot guys, gonna go drink like six glasses of water. That should do the trick, i gotta stay up anyways.

If you are truly hungry - then have a small, healthy snack. In this journey, I've learned to recognize the difference between hunger and thirst. Drink some water and wait about 20 mins. If you are still hungry - then EAT. Starving yourself isn't the way to be successful at this journey.

    You can do this. :)

Ahhh chevy i know not to starve myself. I'm a black man who loves a little meat on the bone. Starving+Cwood just don't go hand in hand. It's late, and I shouldn't be snacking, thats all this is about.

I eat at all hours of the day and night. I always eat right before I go to bed because if I don't? Well, let's just say I wake up in the middle of the night starving and I don't make good choices then. :)

    Trying eating more protein!

I find the more carbs I eat the more hungry I am. Also, if you aren't start drinking the water, it will help. One last piece of advice is to eat a salad with either lunch or dinner, whichever is the one you get hungriest after. A simple filling salad for me is mixed greens, cherry or sun dried tomatoes(no oil), cucumber and Newman's Own Light Balsamic dressing. Hope this helps.

It can really help to keep you going and motivated.
Your inner self talk CAN be changed.. it just takes time and some willpower.
