Hey everyone , Done Zumba for the first time today.I really liked it alot.I know on the heart rate monitor you can't enter in zumba and it tells you how many you burned off but I am curious so I know how to log it for now on.I done it for close to an hour at the class.from 6-6:45 is the high intense part of it and 15 minutes is the cooldowns.I done it at high intensity and full speed so would it be safe to say I burned off around 500 calories?I heard peole say you burn off alot but just curious you burn by doing full speed , thanks

I usually burn a lot of calories while doing zumba, but it depends on al lot of factors like age, intensity, weight and height. I dont have a HRM, if i had to log it , i log it under aerobics(High impact) and i cross verify it with the calculator on this site: http://www.zumbacalories.com/. Most of the times its pretty close. Good luck with your zumba workouts.0

Hi! You will burn off anywhere from 300-1000 calories in a Zumba class depending on your energy level and weight. Do an Internet search for "Zumba calorie calculator" and some good websites will show up. Find one that lets you enter in your weight, that's the key. I would add some links for you, but my iPad is acting funny. However, I found that those websites will generally give you a little less than twice the calories of the aerobic dance choice in here. Sometimes I enter "90" minutes, if I've done an intense hour. But my friend always enters "60," as she would rather err on the side of caution. I feel like I have to get my booty-shakin' worth out of it.0

I just ran my numbers at ZumbaCalories.com. My instructor Lori kicks our butt, my HRM always says I burn close to 1000 cals in her class. ZumbaCalories.com, at high intentisity, came up with 838 cals.
I did Zumba on Friday am with a new instructor, her class wasn't as hard and my HRM said I burned 777 cals. ZumbaCalories, at mid intensity, says 739 cals.
So ZumbaCalories website is a good reference point but only a HRM will give you a more accurate reading on calories burned. I hope that helps!0 -
