Scale rage!

It's weigh in days like today that really annoy me. Fair enough I've not done exercise all week but how can i eat an average of 1400 calories a day and still put on 1.4 lbs? If my 'maintain' calorie count is 1780 (I think), how does less than that turn in to a gain? Confused. *sigh*

Weight fluctuates. Don't give too much importance to the scale. Next thing you know tomorrow you go to weigh yourself and you lost 2lbs... Do you really believe you lost 3lbs from one day to the other? There are many factors that contribute to weight gain and loss one of which is water weight... that's probably what you're retaining.

Weight....it can be water (most likely in this case I think); fat or muscle. Its not a huge amount so could be water. Perhaps its better to look at trends rather than discete numbers. I don't think our bodies are slaves to a specific number...... we are way more complicated than that. Let the scale be a 'guide' and indicator of where things are heading not the definitive answer. Chin up!! You're going to be fine....

Remember, the scale doesn't just reflect fat gained or lost. If you haven't had a bowel movement that can affect the numbers. Also, your sodium intake in the couple of days before weigh in can drastically affect the number as well. If you are close to TOM, then your water retention can be higher. There are a lot of factors that can affect the numbers we see on the scale because the scale reflects your overall weight, not fat lost.

I hear ya! I've been exercising all week and staying under my cals and my scale hasn't budged. It's stayed the same all wrek. I don't understand it. I changed up my goals today and i'm going to find my 30DS dvd and use it today to try and kick my body's butt. Last week. After I took a rest day things looked better scale wise but I can not rest today since we're going to a potluck tonight. So today, kick booty, tomorrow rest! I hope you find your answer. I know its frustrating. I hate my scale this week!

Had a look at your diary. Maybe you should track your sodium especially when you haven't been exercising. Plus I'm not sure if you log your water but maybe you're not drinking enough so that combined with your salt intake and no 'sweating' from exercise might have triggered your body to hold on to the water it did get...tahda...water weight gain!

How many pounds per week did you set your goal?

I don't track water but you're right I probably don't drink enough, I only really drink a wee bottle when at work and thats it, apart from the odd cup of tea! I should look at adding my sodium to see cause i have genuinely no idea what sorta level that is at.

Thanks for the encouragement / sensible words guys. Gonna go do some exercise haha.

Oh, and I have recently changed my settings so its at 1lb a week, so am at 1280 cals a day, but i have recently found i am doing better eating more than that, hence the 1400 cals.
