(I know acne is normal during the teenage years but...)
Can acne (anywhere on the body) come from being over weight/not eating healthy?

Yes it can. The skin is a living organ, so when your body is unhealthy, the skin can have problems. Not always, but it's certainly possible.

I notice that working out regularly makes my skin look better, so long as I wash after. Don't know if that's just me though

Yup! If you eat a lot of sodium, fats, etc. it can clog up your pores, causing acne. You'll notice that when you start eating healthier, your skin will clear up. I've had horrible acne ever since I hit puberty, because I have extremely oily skin. However, the healthier I eat, the easier it is to maintain.

Oh wow, I never knew. I've had acne for a while! As I continue to eat better/exercise I hope it goes away along with the weight!

    Thanks for answering!

Here's something interesting: since getting healthier, my face has actually gotten more oily, but my acne has improved tremendously. Go figure.

From what I understand, acne is caused by bacteria and clogged pores.

    - Make sure you're wearing clean clothes

    - Wash your bed linens once/week at least

    - Put a freshly-washed towel over your pillow EVERY night.

    - Don't touch your face

These things help me avoid breakouts (which I STILL get at 26...ugh!).

    Hope it helps!

I actually started breaking out pretty bad when I first started working out but it has improved so much - maybe I was just getting rid of some toxins??

When I stopped eating dairy products it made a big difference. Suggest reading Deep Nutrition by Catherine Shanahan, MD

Adult acne can be caused by diet, stress, hormones, bad luck! (genetics)

Google it for a wider description of causes and treatment.

A good diet tends to help most things, but you will need to find out the root cause of yours. I find that Oil of Evening Primrose helps balance hormones and helps mine :)

    Good luck :flowerforyou:
  • Ive had acne since 14 im 28 now and since i started eatin better since a year ago it has been worse!!!!

Its not junk food that causes acne many overweight people have nice skin, most ppl eating at fast food places are not full of pimples right?

Acne is caused by many reasons this is the foods i need to avoid to clear up:

    Gluten
    Eggs
    Wheat
    Oats
    Dairy
    Nuts

These foods helped me get fit but made my skin bad. so you see its not the junk.
Check out the acne diet its harder than any other diet.
    Its helped me so far..
