I am getting married 9/29/12, and am SO EXCITED. So far I have lost 55 lbs (give or take) since I met my fiance, but lately I have been slacking off and am looking for other brides to be to help get me wedding dress ready. Lately I have been having trouble due to looking for caterers for a BBQ reception, which means eating lots bbq from different places, not exactly healthy.

Just look at 2 of my pics... I just got married in March and that is me at my heaviest... when we got back the pics I cried because of how Fat I look, so my advice is just remember you want that to be the day you look back and smile because of the wonderful memories ... not cry or hide the pics cause you fat and nasty (not you personally) I still LOVED getting married don't get me wrong I am not going to litterally hide my pictures and I will never cry again looking at those pics because I know that I got healthier AFTER my wedding because I wanted to live a longer happier life with my husband... sorry if that sounded dumb or rambly LOL (I was 170ish during the wedding, then I quit smoking and gained about 15lbs, and I have only lost 8 so far... BUT I haven't given up and I AM losing so there for I am winning this!!!) only been on here since July

Don't stress, you've got a year to lose that BBQ weight! I'm getting spliced on 27 sep this year  which is a bit terrifying. Trying to relax and not let the nerves drive me to overdo my sugar habit!!
  • I am getting married in 2013. Only just got engaged! You need to be hard on yourself... I have been my whole life but now its only going to get tougher :) I havent told my girls who are going to be my bridesmaids... but I have let it slip that they will be coming to bridal boot camp with me :) and the month beofre the wedding I will go on the lean and clean diet as well.

You just need to keep focussed on your goal! remember that its the one day in your life that you are going to remember

Here's one! It's one of the reasons I want to lose weight. The wedding's not for a few years, but I don't want all the weight to fall off and to look like a stick insect on the day - I want to lose the fat and build some lean muscle in its place. That way the dress can still cling to my curves, not bones.

Besides, when you get married as young as I am, these days people expect you to be attractive. It's sort of sad, but true. :/

By the way, losing 55 pounds is AMAZING! Make sure your fiance knows how hard you're working, and make sure he works just as hard. You want to be able to look at him and think he's the handsomest guy ever, too.
  • My biggest worry is my own self esteem, Its been over a decade since I found myself beautiful, and that was at my current goal weight of 125. I went dress shopping a week ago and while the dresses were gorgeous, I didnt see myself as pretty. I just kept seeing the weight. I am only 17 lbs from my goal and and just freaked that I still wont find myself pretty. I dont want to look back at pictures and see a fat bride

He is 6'3 and when soaking wet and just fed, he is a whole 160lbs. When we met, he weight 55 lbs less than me. We are both starting the Insanity workout tomorrow for different reasons, he wants to bulk up and I want to slim down. At least I know he will be with me through thick and thin.:laugh:

If I may say so, you don't look at all fat in your profile photo. Remember that white makes everybody look fatter, too! That's one of the reasons I'm not wearing a white dress. On a day like your wedding day, the LAST thing you need is worry over whether you look fat or not. I'll be worrying about everything else already!

I understand about not feeling pretty, though. Goodness, do I. Lately, it's been hell trying to convince myself that anyone sees anything other than my fat when I walk down the street. I want to get back to a size where I'm comfortable just being myself.

Funny, my fiance and I both just joined fitocracy for the same reasons! It's actually kind of great, because we're having fun competing against each other and both getting what we want - I'm losing weight and toning up, and he's building more bulk. I'm glad you're doing it together. I see so many couples where the woman wants to lose weight and all the man has to say is "but you look FINE!" As IF that's any help when she can't believe it!

He tells me I look great the way I am now (we met at my heaviest) and is very supportive, and gives me great motivation when I ask for it- last time it was "you want to be smaller so I can carry you over the threshold" I then picked on him, saying he needed to get some muscles so he'd be capable of doing it
