Need some advice RE: 30 Day Shred

I bought the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred and was anxious to get started! I did not give much thought to the fact that I am trying to heal some shin splints for the next few weeks. (Just diagnosed on Friday) So I did the dvd on Saturday including the jumping jacks, jump rope and heel kicks-again not thinking that it would hurt that much. WRONG! Later in the day-shin splints got pretty sore.
So here is my question (and I hope it doesn't sound dumb) Should I continue the DVD and just do non-impact cardio like high kicks and boxing in place of her jumping cardio or will it make that much difference in the effectiveness of the program? I really liked it because I was so challenged in that 20 minutes and I want to make the 30 day commitment to it.
Any advice is appreciated from all you awesome MFP people!!

Just keep moving! thats the key to the program. The boxing really gets your heart rate up so that would be a good substitute. But yes.... lower impact until those are healed up so you dont do more damage!0

As you move through the levels, there are high impact activities all the way through. In fact in level 3 most of the moves are jumping. I would just wait until you are healed and then you can do the full program and give it your all. I understand being excited to start, but you aren't doing your body any favors by not allowing it time to heal, and you aren't really doing the 30 DS if you only do half of it. Wait until you can do it as intended.0
