Since Monday, Ive been having a hard time catching my breath period. I did set an Appt for tomorrow to see my Dr but I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this or has. I have no medical conditions other than obesity. I don't known if they are panic or athsma attacks or what. Maybe it can be because my body is not use to all this work. I started working out last week and did not experience shortness of breath. While I am working out I am short of breath but it's because I'm out of shape breath. I'm hoping it's not serious.

It has happened to me from time to time, but it usually goes away. Going to the doctor is probably best.

Too weird - I am struggling with the same thing. I kept thinking I was getting sick but no other symptoms have popped up. Shopping at Wally world almost killed me yesterday. I got so tired I laid my head down on the buggy.

Is the shortness of breath only with exercise or also at rest? Obviously no one on these boards can diagnose or reassure you and since I am an MD I might be considered more qualified than most. If you are short of breath at rest and it is new I would not even wait until tomorrow, I would go to an ER as soon as possible. There are many possibilites but some of them like heart conditions, blood clots etc could be an emergency. Don't take a chance by waiting if you are short of breath at rest.

    agree with this.
Would extend it to if you are breathless on minor exertion much worse than normal, if you are breathless lying flat in bed, or if you have had any chest pain at all.

    Absolutely agree!!
  • Agree with the above 2 posters. If you are acutely SOB with rest then you need to go be seen at an emergency department. This is not normal.

I developed "exercise induced athsma" in my 40s but the dr can prove it with a stress test. I just started a C25K program today and as long as I take a huff on my puffer before I start out I can exercise for an hour or more without my lungs closing off.
Ironically I developed athsma 6months after quitting smoking. Didn't seem fair.
