dont know whats better- a short workout at maximum exertion or a longer workout at a moderate exertion?

i have a treadmill so i have been amping up my speed as i can. i started off 3 mph now im at 6.5 mph. I do a mix of running for a few minutes at 6.5 followed by some slowing down to 3.5 for 30 seconds. in the end i workout about 13 to 15 minutes but i worked out at my max i can go,than i need to sit down and cool off.

So is it better to work out hard as possible for a shorter time or go at a slower pace and do a longer workout?
im open to any suggestions. dont have to be an expert. :)

My personal opinion is a mixture of both keeps the body guessing, and that's a great thing...mixing it up also helps ward off boredom also.
  • i agree :)

you can do 10 minutes hard and then 5 minutes moderate and repeat !!
