Walking/Running shoes...

So i plan on doing a lot of walking and running. I have my puppy (well, not so much a puppy anymore, lol) who needs to be walked, but i also have a group of girlfriends that go running every Tuesday and Thursday and i'd like to join them. My arches are not that great and if i run for too long my feet start to hurt, but it's worse on a treadmill or olyptical, they start to burn. I need to find a good pair of shoes and need a jumping off point like maybe brand or store to look.

Go to a running specialty store that offers gait analysis. They will help you find a pair that will help you out.0

I have New Balance, with the inner side supported (Pronation; middle of your feet point inwards). They are very stable; I have had no issues with shin splints.
Good luck!0 -
you might need some kind of special insoles to put into your shoes. I was having problems with my hill hurting real bad when I walked a lot. Turned out I have a hill spur which is an extra growth of bone. They took casts of my feet and made me special insoles and I haven't had the problem in the past 2 years when I use them. If I venture to shoes that I can't use the insoles with, I do feel the difference though. By the end of the day, my foot/hill is killing me!0

I'd go to a good, reputable running store that other runners recommend and have a full fitting. If that's not an option for some reason, use the Runner's World free guide on their site.
Also, to save a few bucks, consider buying the last-year model on eBay or just type it into Google Shopping. I run in Asics Cumulus and they typically cost 125-130 brand new for current line, normally I can get last years model for 60-65.0 -
Like others said, get fitted at a running store.
I would also not wear your running shoes for walking or you will wear them out too quickly.0 -
Nike Free Run, have worked wonders for me, I am seriously flat foot. Also run with a mid foot strike, instead of heel toe. See how that works for you.0
