Jackie Warner video was disappointing...

So I've been a Jillian Michael's addict since I started MFP and first saw the words "30 Day Shred"... but having been doing solely her workouts for the last 10 months or so I got curious and finally purchased a Jackie Warner video. From what I had heard and seen, she seemed like the next best thing compared to JM.
I had my doubts when I was buying the DVD because it had four 15 minute workouts and one 40 minute workout... 15 minutes just didn't seem like enough time to get a good burn. Well tonight I didn't really feel like working out but having had a terrible weekend of eating felt like I needed to do SOMETHING. So I popped in the Jackie Warner Power Circuit Training dvd and selected the 15 minute Total Body workout. I was beyond disappointed. It was sooooo easy. It had a short warm up, followed by three 4-minute circuits each targeting a different area (upper body, lower body and abs). Each "circuit" was three 1-minute exercises followed by a "power" minute where you do all three exercises again in one minute. When it was over even my husband looked at me (he was playing videos game next to me while I did my workout video) and said "That's it?"
I don't even think the 40 minute workout is going to be difficult. There is no real "cardio" built into it. It's more just like lifting weights I feel like. You know how JM is always saying "we can't just do biceps... we have to work the small muscles in with the big muscles to get that calorie burn"... well Jackie Warner is just doing the biceps.
Needless to say, I popped in JM's Ripped in 30 and am now dripping in sweat and feeling thoroughly worked out.
So does anyone know of a workout similar in difficulty and style to JM or do I just need to continue to eagerly await JM's next workout video? I'm not into the P90X stuff and I have absolutely NO rhythm so am also not interested in zumba or turbofire. I just like the straight forward easy to follow but incredibly difficult way that JM does her videos. They are simple and effective. Did I just get a bad Jackie Warner video and need to get a different one?

I don't know about other dvd's (I do like the Biggest Loser cardio max dvd, though), but JM is coming out with a buns & thighs dvd soon!0

I have exercise tv "on demand" so I've been doing a lot of different exercise videos. I don't know DVDs but I do know exercise segments - Chris Freytag has a bunch of JM-esque workouts, two minutes cardio, three minutes strength but I find them to be intermediate in difficulty. Yesterday, I did a bootcamp workout by Amy Dixon and I thought I was going to die it was so hard. It had weights but it was plyo too.0

Ooo I'll have to look up Amy Dixon... I love bootcamp style workouts!0 -

I've always kind of shied away from anything that I have to actually show up to... I know SUPER lazy. I just make excuses though. That's why workout DVD's have been so effective for me.. I don't really have an excuse not to do one. It's so convenient! But perhaps to keep it interesting I'll look and see what we offer in the area :-)0 -
Aww. That's sad. I love Jackie's videos. I agree that the 15 minute workout is kind of a joke in that Power Circuit Training video, but I do enjoy the 40 minute full body one. Of course, you are in much better shape than me, so you probably don't feel the burn as much. It's a tamer video of hers though. Now, the most recent one I got was Xtreme TimeSaver workout and I struggle though it. It's much more difficult for me, as there are lots of lunges/squats with arm movement variations.
But, ya definitely have to find something that works with your fitness level. Or as Jackie likes to say, "Increase your weights and get down lower in the moves if you need to make it burn."0 -
I like the JW workout DVDs but I find that I have to make myself use heavier weights. I have the Power Circuit DVD and the Extreme Time Saver DVD. I like the pyramid format because, if you use the right weight, your muscles are truly fatigued at the end.
If you want cardio, try playing some of the games on your husbands game console. I have a XBOX and I do boxing, dancing, Zumba, track and field, whatever, just to get and keep my heart rate up. It keeps things from getting boring.0
