Diving Vacation

I just got back from my vacation in the Cayman Islands - my dive buddies I was with were shocked at my weight loss - about 50lbs since I dove with them last. I was able to breathe a lot better under water - meaning, I breathed slower - making my air last longer and I could stay underwater longer - not the first person up all the time. I was able to swim better, relax, have a good time.

This is me on the USS Kitiwake, a US Submarine Rescue Ship - sunk in Jan 2011 as an artificial reef. I'm on the bridge, steering the ship into the abyss, at about 50' under water.

This is my friend Barry, the Cuda. Helping me keep watch on the bridge ... or was he watching me?

Congratz on the weight loss and the better physical shape for diving. I have my open water certificate but I need to work on advanced diving before going into wrecks. I burn through air and am seriously working on my cardiovascular stamina so that I don't bring others up too fast. Many happy dives in your future.

Phera - that wreck, the Kittiwake, was purposefully sunk as an artificial reef / dive destination - and made extremely friendly to divers with lots of entry/exits, lots of light zone etc. it's not what one would normally consider a "wreck" - I would not enter a "real" wreck, but this one has only been down for 10 months, and is pretty "safe", and shallow. So, if you want to consider a cool, warm, Caribean, friendly, shallow dive destination - I highly recommend it. It's in Grand Cayman.
