Hello Lovely MFPers!
I'm going out to dinner tonight with my BF and would love some recommendations for what to order! I've just started on MFP about two weeks ago and have been really diligent about not going over my calorie goals and tracking EVERYTHING! I'm just worried and don't want to get derailed from one dinner out! (Its still so early in my journey that I'm scared a couple bad choices could spiral me back into unhealthy eating!)
The website with menu is below.

I would love any help or recommendations that you guys have to offer!

The grilled thai shrimp skewer looks like a good choice Do you like seafood?0

You don't appear to have much choice - it would seem that the menu is pretty set, but sounds fresh. Be aware of your portions, and stop eating when you're full. But most of it sounds like fresh veggies and fruits, so if you don't go crazy with toppings or sauces, it shouldn't be too calorie heavy. Enjoy your date - it looks like a nice place )0

I was about 3 weeks into MFP when my sister and brother in law took us out for my husband's bday at my favorite mexican restaurant. I knew what I wanted and didn't want to skimp on anything. My plan-I went to the gym and burned 1000 calories in order to feel safe for the night. The only change I made was eating the fajitas without tortillas (not a problem) and I still had guacamole, a beer and ice cream-all under my calories for the day!! Planning ahead is definitely the way to go-good luck and have a good time.0

Eating out when you are diligently watching your calorie intake is very tricky indeed! First of all, do not be afraid to ask questions about what a certain meal contains (butter, margarine, olive oil...?). I have yet to find a restaurant that is not willing to make a few adjustments to a meal to suit the special dietary needs of their customers.
Also, if your meal comes with a side of potato, ask for a side of salad instead. Another thing I do is ask for salad dressing on the side, as I find restaurants add too much. Eating slowly and enjoying your meal will prevent your from overeating. Remember that the typical restaurant entree serving is ~ 3 times that of what it should be for an individual person!0 -
i would probably do the seared albacore and the apple salad (dressing on the side please)0

I agree with Mandy. Planning ahead is definitely the way to go here. However, I woudl think the grilled Steak would be a good choice provided you skip the onion rings (i assume they are fried).
Enjoy!0 -

I don't believe one dinner out will derail you, just watch your portions and eat slowly. When you feel full, stop eating. Box up the rest for later. Unfortunately, the menu doesn't list their nutrition information. When you get there, the menu itself might list some items as heart healthy. Look for those (or ask the waiter). As a general guideline, I try to skip the starters and then share the dessert with my boyfriend. And, I usually take 1/2 the entree home for later. That seems like a really nice restaurant! Enjoy!0

The grilled Iron Steak looks good, hold the onion rings and have with a salad.0
