Arnold Palmer ZERO calorie Lemonade and Iced Tea = water?

Question of the day.... Arnold Palmer Zero (1/2 Lemonade and 1/2 Iced Tea)....... can you count this as your daily water intake?? Or is it supposed to be strictly plane jane water? Open to opinions

I think if you're going to track water, it should be water. And anything else, track in your food diary.0

Someone else posted a similar post about counting tea as water. NO, you should only be counting water as water. You can list the Arnold Palmer and enter the data yourself.0

I count fresh brewed unsweetened iced tea towards my water intake; however, I put lemonade in my journal.0

EXACTLY!!! Just because you use water to make it doesn't matter. You compromise the water by adding other things to it.0 -
Thanks LOL I thought so but I figured i'd give it a whirl! I am so addicted to these Arnold Palmers that it's not even funny. I do get my daily 64 ouces of water in a day, but wasn't sure if I should add these to my water after the 64 ounces. Makes total sense, I just wanted to see what y'all thought!! thanks!!0

i count it as long as its decaffinated...
i love putting crystal light in my water or when my office is -32 degrees in the evenings i always have some decaf hot tea

I would count it towards water. I still go by the Weight Watchers water rules, though, and they include all diet drinks, including diet soda, towards water. I try to get in at least 8 glasses of pure water a day, but still count all other diet drinks and zero-cal drinks towards my water.0

I would count it as water. Yeah, coke is mostly water, too, and you should track the calories that go with coke, but you are stilling getting the benefit of the water in the coke as well.
With that said, I don't really track water. I know I drink enough. I drink 3 liters of 'smart water' every day, on top of the 4 or 5 diet dr. peppers I drink, so I don't obsess about it.0 -
Drinking eight glasses of water a day really isn't that hard to do, especially once you program your mind and body to do it. You might not be a water drinker, so drinking a lot of water right now might be a problem. Try drinking a glass of water with a lot of ice in it, and that might be easier to swallow. The problem with substituting bottled beverages with water is the sodium. Filling your body with this stuff every single day can cause problems with people predisposed to having high blood pressure. So, drinking your water every day is important. It helps cleanse the system and keep it regular.0

It depends what you are counting it for...ie if calories then track it as food...if you are tracking fluid intake then in medical terms for hydration purposes any non alcoholic or high caffeine beverage counts as fluid. Just because MFP asks you to track water people get hung up on it...I log 3-4 glasses of water as water, but I also drink 4-5 mugs of black decaffeinated unsweetened coffee & 3-4 glasses of diluted sugar free squash a day which gives me my hydration...and will flush the fat & toxins from my body in the same way as water will.0

Exactly. Someone else mentioned the sodium in drinks - there is no reason you can't log it in your calories so you add that sodium to your total per day AND also add it to your water intake. But I always get my 8 glasses of water a day anyway. Just didn't know where I should be logging the rest of this zero calorie, sodium, fat and sugar drink LOL0 -

What's in this? Does it have artificial sweeteners? Not that that matters for your question but I hate artif. sweeteners.
The only thing I count as water OTHER than water is water + fresh lemon juice, and unsweetened light tea (with no sweeteners and low caffeine).

I've never seen this arnold palmer stuff, but yeah - if there are no calories, sodium, fat, or sugar, I seriously don't see why you can't log it as water if you want to.
I think people get too hung up on taking things so literally and 'by the book'. The intent, I believe, is to get people to drink more water as opposed to soft drinks/juice etc. But I think common sense has to play into as well. It sounds like Arnold Palmer stuff is as close to water as your gonna get, IMO.0 -
Why are you tracking water? If it's for hydration (which is where the 8 glasses a day nonsense started) then yes, you should count it. If it's some other reason, then it would depend on what that reason was.0
