Hi,
I am a soon to be 26 year old. I finished university about two years ago and *may* have just landed my first job as a supply teacher. During the past 3 years though I have gained about 20 pounds and want to lose it badly. As a recent graduate everything seems to be hitting me pretty hard. Bills, life, weight. I am really looking forward to loosing a few pounds because I am going to meet my boyfriends parents soon and I want to look as best as I can for that. Not only that though, after that initially meeting me and him are going to get engaged and for that I would like to look and feel my best as well. The wedding will most likely be next summer, so I have year to loose the weight and keep it off while I get fit for stuff. I look forward to being an active member of the community and loosing weight with you all. :)

Greetings. I too am a teacher, so wanted to wish you the bet of luck on getting that supply teaching job. From experience I can tell you that teaching can be a very stressful adventure but that exercise can really help in reducing that, make you feel more positive, energetic and handle the happy crowds. Of course it also helps in controlling cravings, making you more fit, toned and drop some weight. So, welcome young lady, get out there, grab the shoes by the laces and go zoom:) Be well.

Good luck on your journey! Just remember that every action is a chance to nourish your goals---food, exercise, work, love, friends. Keep a written list of your goals, and do a little bit every day to get yourself closer to them. As far as MFP: If losing weight is your only aim, calories in and calories out works. If you are looking to fuel fitness goals and maximize your health while losing weight, I encourage you to eat whole real foods as often as possible. Good luck!!

First for the happy stuff! Congratulations on the wedding plans! And as for the rest, well, you get all that advice when you start university on what to expect but no one ever gears you up for life in the real world.

By coming on this forum you've taken a really positive step - and I suspect that what you need right now is to feel like you are taking control of your life in some way when everything else around you is chaotic. Getting in shape is definitely a good way to do that, but don't be too hard on yourself. Your fiance obviously loves you and I'm sure his family will too, irrespective of the 20lbs you want to lose.

So, taking control! I find logging my food and exercise in MyFitnessPal quite theraputic and a chance for me to have five minutes quiet time at the end of the day. And, of course, coming on the forums is a really great mental boost. It's also good to invite other members to be your 'friend' so that you can see how you are all doing (it only says when you have lost weight - it won't declare to the world when you have had a bad week). There's nothing like losing a pound or logging some exercise to then have your online friends make a comment and cheer you on. Far less scary than doing it in person at a slimming club!

Good luck with the weight loss and the job hunting. Hope you find this forum helpful.
