Heart rate monitor = money well spent!

Options
I finally spent the money to get a used Polar FT5 heart rate monitor. That sucker is FANTASTIC. I love getting my actual calories burned instead of estimating.

For example, this weekend I took my son on a long walk. MFP estimated the calories at 182, but I actually burned 312. It's great to have a definite number!

HRM are still estimating its just a little more accurate then MFP or some of the machines but it is still an estimate.

I love mine too. I like the calories estimate, but most importantly? I know how hard I'm working. I know when I'm slacking and when I'm giving it my all. If my heart rate isn't where I want it, I kick it up. I

Yes but it is by far the most accurate estimate you are going to get!

I got mine in March and I have never regretted it! If nothing more, it tells me when I am not working hard enough.

Ive got a Suunto HRM that has been great for helping me identify "exertion zones"... I know what heart rate I can maintain for how long... been a great training tool.

Yes very true. Mine beeps at me when I'm below my target HR. Makes me work harder to get above the target.

I've got a suunto too, it's definitely the the bees knees. It's a little pricier than some but its the best money I've spent :)
