I feel you. I had 0 allergies until I moved to Michigan -- I recently got tested and I'm practically allergic to everything: Tree/grass/weed pollen, mold, dust mites, dog, cat are the big ones. Basically the only unchecked boxes on my "this is what you are allergic to" form was feathers and cockroaches.
If you get allergy shots, remember this: hydrocortisone cream keeps it from itching, advil/aleve keeps the swelling down, and an ice pack helps with the pain.0 -

I'm seeing an allergist soon and am worried they are going to tell me the same..that i'm allergic to dang near everything. Do you find that the allergy shots helped?
I live in the Cincinnati, ohio area, basicially one of the worst places to live when you have allergies0 -
I thought that was my problem since I started having issues when I moved to Colorado. I finally went to an allergist and found that that I am highly allergic to asprin (my throat closes up) and slightly allergic to ibuprofen. I found out that all of the allergy medicine I was taking for my "allergies" had ibuprofen in it, which is what was causing all of my issues. My suggestion: see an allergist, you never know what is going on! I found out that it is fairly common for people in their late 20's early 30's to develop an allergy to ibuprofen and asprin.0

Apple cider vinegar. 2tbsp 2x a day. It helps with TONS of things, one of them being allergies. You can have it with juice or water or incorporate it into food. But 2 tbsp 2x a day. And you have to get the apple cider vinegar with the mother (pulp) in it. Bragg's is the product I recommend. It's worked REALLY well for me.0 -
OK, Apple Cider Vineger with pulp! I will try this. My allergies are starting to go crazy again, Pine in the Spring, Weeds in the late summer/fall. I've had this since I was about 13 years old! Some years are better then others, but this month has been dry, and lack of rain isn't helping to calm the crap in the air down. I also use a Neti Pot to clear the crap out of my sinuses.
This year they are bad, making me feel sick to the stomach bad!
I always thought I was allergic to cats, but the three at home have not bothered me, I think it's that my friends always had really dirty houses.0 -
For the past 10 years I have been miserable the entire month of August. This is the first time that my seasonal allergies have disappeared. The only thing I changed was I eliminated milk and dairy products from my diet in June. You might want to do some research on the subject. I have learned that many others have also overcome allergies by eliminating dairy products.0

I'm from Wisconsin. I'd rather have a shot in the as$ daily than give up cheese. Although I have heard this before and have no doubt it works, I just don't have that kind of will power :blushing:0 -
I'm a big fan of the Neti Pot...kinda gross, but it really works for sinus and allergy issues0

Here in Chicago, we're having a doozy of a season because of all of the rain earlier in the year. Extra mold and other crap in the air.
I didn't have any type of allergy until probably 6 years ago - apparently they often present as you get older. My favorite!
I have the lovely pleasure of having my ear fill with fluid whenever I'm outside and exercising - which I'm trying to do every day. Oy! I still think it beats the alternative here - freezing cold!0 -

Another great (though not nearly as fast as it should be) remedy is to buy locally-made honey and take 1 Tbsp per day year round. It took about 2-3 weeks for it to really start making a difference in my allergies when I had a really bad attack last year. I should've just kept up with it, but I didn't. The reason it works is because it has all of the local pollen, and you are dosing yourself with it everyday and building up an immunity. It worked even better than a twice-a-day Allegra for me.
You can usually find locally-made honey at your local Farmer's Market. Even if it's made within a 50-mile radius, it will still be effective.0 -

That is rather genius. I like that.0 -

I totally understand. I felt that way myself. Then I watched the movie "Forks Over Knives". I gained not only a totally new perspective about the purpose of eating, but also lost any desire to continue consuming dairy. I too, live in dairy country. The funny thing is, I think I must have been addicted to cheese because once I eliminated it, I also lost all urges to binge or overeat. The best consequence of all is that I now have complete control again and I no longer have to struggle with myself to limit portions.0 -

I tried going vegan once for two weeks and the only thing that was tough for me to give up was cheese. I can leave eggs, milk, and even sour cream. But rice cheese and soy cheese is NOT cheese and never will be. Since I did it for the 2 weeks on a dare (I had just switched to being a vegetarian at that time and that lasted about 3 years before I got tired of it - I was never in it for ethical reasons and with a household of carnivores was fairly difficult to maintain for the 3 years I did it), once it was over I swear I ate nothing but cheese for a week! lol0
