STARVING!

I don't know what it is but today I feel like I am just so unbelievably hungry!
I need to eat a bigger breakfast I know (today was just 1 Fiber one Pastry), but I just am lacking time.
I know my calories are high enough (1500).
It just hit out of the blue... like stomach growling, hurting hungry!
It's insane!
Anyone else ever have this happen?

yes. to be honest, i sometimes just take a day to go over my calories my 500, not necessarily by eating junk food. just eating more in general. I find it doesn't hurt to do that when you feel sooo hungry.0

Yes! I don't know the rhyme or reason to it but some days I'm ravenously hungry and other days not as much? And it does just hit out of the blue! I like to say it's my metabolism speeding up...0
-
Definitely..
It happened to me a couple of days ago - right after I had a really good day (ate only my calories and exercise calories). The next day I couldn't work out, so no extra calories.
My non-medical opinion is that I was still burning calories from the workout the day before..
I got through it, but it was not easy. I drank a lot more water and some tea with honey to take the edge off.
Good luck.. janiebeth0 -
Of course, who hasn't had this happen?
This sounds like true hunger rather than a craving. You can usually tell because everything sounds good if it's true hunger, with a craving you're picky.
True hunger also has two forms: empty tummy and low protein. Low protein your head is telling you that you're hungry. Empty tummy, your stomache has hunger pangs.
Some ideas...
1. Empty tummy, Drink a huge bottle of water or diet soda.
2. Empty tummy, Eat a big salad or a big bag of mini carrots.
3. If your protein is low go for a really low calorie source, like a can of tuna, protein shake or shrimp.
You're right about breakfast, front loading calories can keep things in check. Add a little protein at breakfast also.0 -
I can't say that I have, not insane hungry. Stomach growling yes but I tend to ignore that when that happens. Just try not to think about it or eat more? Go on holiday, or start snowboarding that should fix it.x0

I was just going to say make sure you're getting some protein w/ breakfast to help you feel full! You beat me to it.0 -
The top 10 reasons why I feel hungrier than usual on a given morning:
1) I didn't sleep enough
2) I woke up earlier (related to point #1) so I've been awake longer and burning calories longer.
3) I'm just plain bored
4) I exercised in the morning - cardio makes you hungry.
5) I ate a breakfast with more sugar than usual
6) I drank more coffee - the acid in it can cause the same sensation as hunger.
7) I didn't drink enough water
8) I drank alcohol the night before
9) I'm used to eating frequently and I'm trying to stop - it takes practice to get out of this habit!
10) I'm not getting enough calcium (related to point #6).
Solutions:
1) Make sure you're sleeping enough, and not waking up earlier than you have to.
2) Eat breakfast later in the morning to stay fuller longer. You shouldn't have to eat again before lunch.
3) Stay busy. Keep your mind engaged on something other than food!
4) If #3 is impossible, you might need to make some major changes in your life!
5) Keep breakfast low in sugar.
6) Try to cut back on caffeine.
7) The first thing you should put in your stomach any morning is a full glass of water!
8) Cut back on alcohol!
9) Stop "grazing" throughout the day unless you're exercising throughout the day! Cows graze.
10) Getting enough calcium, so that your stomach feels settled and you don't confuse acid for hunger.0 -
oh btw, i recommend boiling a few eggs if time is an issue in the morning. they are a great source of protein and keep me filled up until late morning. i eat 2.0

YES! I have those days too, I mean, aside from TOM - cuz that's a given. I do load up on more foods, but not junky ones and more h2o! :drinker:0 -
I also noticed today that my "meals" have been all out of whack.
Lack of money kept me from buying my regular "snack" foods (fruits, yogurts, hummus, cheese, etc) that I keep at school... so for the last little while I've been focusing mainly on 3 meals a day...with an occasionaly snack when I have time. Also, I keep forgetting to make my lunch the night before... which means grabbing one of my Lean Cuisines or Smart Ones in the morning. Usually it's a really hearty sandwich or soup with some fruit/veggies.
So, I've been missing out on all the good stuff from those foods!
Last week my stomach was literally growling loud enough that the students in the back of the room could hear it loud and clear.... it was insane... but I didn't really feel hungry...
Thank for all the advise, I'll try to get on some of those suggestions.... except the boiled egg one... I just can't do boiled eggs. :laugh:0 -
That happened to me yesterday so I had about 400 more calories of dinner and the drank a bottle of water I was still a little hungry but it wasn't as bad and I went to bed woke up and now I'm fine!! I think it's ok to eat over sometimes just as long as it is not everyday!0

If money's an issue. Try quick oats. I get the 42 ounce canister (30 servings) for $5.00. That's 16.7 cents per serving. If you add a packet of splenda ($5.30 for 100 packets), it's 22 cents per serving. Using skim milk instead of water adds about 25 cents per serving. AND it fills you up!0
