I just started doing this. I have never counted calories before, so it's going to be a struggle.

Any advice for me starting out. I want to lose 20 pounds. And I currently weigh 176. I'm 20 years old and very unhappy with my image.

I would buy a cheap food scale. I got mine from zellers (similar to walmart) for like $8. Then I weigh out a lot of my food so that I know I'm entering it in correctly into my food diary. I weigh out my meat after it's cooked, veggies, and other food. I would also recommend having measuring cups for foods that aren't so easily weighed like rice, pasta, etc so that you know how much you're eating.

I would also suggest eating lots of complex carbohydrates like whole grain bread, whole grain pasta, brown rice, and vegetables to keep you satisfied for longer. Lots of lean meats such as chicken, fish and turkey for protein. Eggs are a great source of protein and are easily boiled if time is an issue in the morning.

Anyway, best wishes to you in your journey.
