I'm feeling dissappointed and discouraged. I weigh and measure myself every Saturday morning or Sunday. Its been a month of healthy eating and excercise and no change. My diary is open and I'm completely honest. I weigh all my portions so they are accurate. I work my butt off 6 days a week with cardo (eliptical, treadmill, running), 3-4 days a week weights, calisthenics everyday. I also use a HRM so I know my calorie burning is accurate as well. Why do I look and weigh the same? Clothes fit the same and no noticable differents to friends and family. I have hypothyroid and my levels are fine. Depending on when I weigh myself Saturday morning I weighted 122 and tonight I weighed 130. I'm 4"11' so my ideal weight is 105ish, but honestly I just want to see 119, for the love of God!!! I want to feel my effort is for something. Is there something I'm not seeing? What could I be doing wrong?

For the love of god! *LOL* OK, I really am not the pro at this so I'll leave it to the pros, but just wanted to say hang in there ;) If nothing else, aren't you rather proud of yourself??

I completely identify. Weight loss is sometimes a little slower and more frustrating for people our size. I lose at a rate of .3 lbs a week, if that. Sometimes it takes me 2 whole months to lose a lb (I'm 4'8" and also hypothyroid - I have Hashimotos). Hang in there! And don't be so hard on yourself! I think the changes you've made in your lifestyle are incredible - even if it takes a little longer to see the impression they leave on your body.

I'm no expert, but when I started working out and watching what I ate, it took a few weeks for me to start losing.

Sometimes, I think when we start something new, our bodies say, "HOLD ON A SECOND....WHAT IS GOING ON?" And we don't lose any weight or see any changes until our bodies adjust and know that we aren't trying to starve ourselves!

Again, I'm no expert! But it sounds like you've made a great start- keep at it!

Keep doing what you are doing, and just give it a bit more time. You are doing the right things, you just have to be patient with your body. It will happen!

Looked at your diary... your problem, plain and simple, is that you aren't eating ENOUGH.... You need to get your net OVER 1200... I know it sounds counterproductive, but it's been proven time and time again that sometimes you need to eat more to lose more. I'm only 4'11" as well, but I've learned that I don't lose unless I'm netting at least 1250... So... EAT MORE, plain and simple. Bump your NET up OVER 1200 for a few weeks and see if it helps. Make sure you're eating plenty of veggies and drinking LOTS of water. And keep us posted! :)

The fear I have about eating more calories is that hypothyroid suffers have a much lower metabolism and heart rate. Thats something I thought about though. I will try that, can't hurt.

yes, the smaller you are the harder it is to lose weight. its simply because our bmrs are already going to be very low. i'd guess your's by the harris benedict formula is probably around 1200 on its own..add an activity level just from your exercise and i'd say you can bump that up to around 1700.

i am 5'2", and my bmr is 1300.

i would suggest to not eat back any exercise cals you do. since technically you'd be eating very close to your T.E.E. so hence it'll make it slower and harder to lose weight. unfortunately thats just the way it goes. eat at around your bmr of 1200, and whatever exercise you get will add to your deficit.

try eating some so called metabolism boosting foods. green tea, citrus etc. it was hard for me to get down past 125. i had to use a thermogenic (fat burner). along with lots of exercise, metabo boosting foods and the lipo 6 hers i finally broke the barrier. i was stalled for a few months. i ate 1300 cals and did cardio for 50 mins, and weights for 40 mins every day.
