there is nothing wrong with a beautiful slice of garlic bread next to that BBQ pork, and maybe a salad too!

I've never done it with BBQ pork but I love a simple side of grilled pineapple rings with pork. I typically grill it on a grill pan but you can just give it a good sear in a skillet, its amazing the flavor they have cooked.

    Fat Chips (fries)?

Cut a potato (I leave the skin on, but you can peel if you prefer. Cut it into think chip shapes about 0.5-1" square, oblongs. Par boil for 3 minutes. Drain, put onto baking sheet, spray well with spray oil, shake so they are covered, bake in oven for around 30 minutes. We love these :) Maybe corn on the cob too?

Lettuce Slaw with Chipotle Ranch dressing. Thin sliced iceberg, thin sliced red onion and shredded carrots, then ad Chipotle ranch to get desired consistency. I served this on pulled pork sandwiches to 50 high school boys and staff and they cleaned it up and then some. :-) add a side of spicey baked beans and thats about close to heaven.

    Mmm that sounds so good!

I'm from the pork BBQ capital of the world, so I feel obligated to reply. What kind of BBQ sauce do you use - sweet, mustard, etc.?

PS - I'm guessing you mean pulled pork (not ribs) with sweet sauce and no rub. Is that right?

PPS - Consider a BBQ rub for extra flavor! You can also use a little to flavor sides like corn on the cob or potato salad (although potato salad's not the healthiest thing you could eat). I also like that grilled pineapple idea. :)
  • If you're looking for a different way to eat pulled pork, here are a few ideas from local restaurants: pork nachos (with jalapenos and cheese, but you could load this up with veggies too or use veggies instead of chips), pork spaghetti (pretty good) and pork baked potato (oh man this is so good! I really regret that I didn't discover this til a week before I became a vegetarian, haha).

I did do a rub of cinnamon, cumin, garlic and cayene pepper. Am leaving it in fridge like that until tomorrow and then will put in the crockpot with Sweet and Tangy sauce topped with sliced onions. May throw in some fresh ginger just for kicks. I'm loving the ideas all y'all are sending my way. I want to stay away from the traditional sides. I think the brocoli slaw with cranberris and almonds might be my favorite!

This sounds so good, I might have to make it this weekend. Thanks!

    Spicy red cabbage slaw:

1/2 head red cabbage, finely shredded
1 large red onion, finely sliced
1 large red apple, sliced or shaved

    Dressing:

    1 tbsp evoo
    S&P
1 chopped red chilli pepper- or 1 tsp red chilli flakes
1 dash red wine/ white wine vinegar
    Juice from 1/2 a lemon
    Fresh chopped parsley/ coriander (cilantro)

You can also make the same coleslaw , minus the evoo & add mayo instead- if you want it creamy.
