Reality Check

Sorry if TMI especially for the guys! I was diagnosed with a large intrauterine fibroid in January after lots of problems with pain and bleeding and had a Mirena coil fitted 7 weeks ago that has since gone awol! Upshot is that I need a total hysterectomy. I'm so bloated and feel dreadful can't sleep as I'm up all night emptying my bladder due to the fibroid pressing on it, which in turn effects my Fybromyalgia. I'm not moaning or whinging or doing a poor me as I'm not that kind of person but as I have just totally lost all of my previous motivation need a bit of help to get it back.

I started this weight loss journey March 2010 but only joined MFP in May and I had lost 22 pounds, sticking to my calories and walking regularly and went to the gym (not possible now due to lack of funds) and also did 30 day shred.
Just had a reality check this morning and got on the scales and did all of my measurements again, and have now gained all 22 pounds back although in different areas as my stomach is huge where I don't normally have a problem there as I'm a typical pear shape.

On the waiting list for the op and it should be in 2 to 3 months time, hopefully earlier, but I know I need to start now to get back on track before I'm laid up for a while and unable to do much. Think I needed to acknowledge the fact that I'm in the mind set that I'll get back on track once it's all over but I know deep down that I have to get back to it NOW!

I'm really writing this to make me acknowledge the fact that only I can do this again but any help or advice from you fantastic people especially if you have experienced the same thing would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance :blushing:

 Hiya......just wanted to 'show up' for you on this post.

I've got fibroids too but not so large. I first found out when my period went wonky...was the most tramatic experience I've had ever!! So about your surgery you're right you need to get your body ready for it now. It will thank you for it afterwards. Its tough I know but try to focus on having a solution to the problem and that you've got the courage to go for it.
Maybe it doesn't fell like it right now but I can tell that your awesome!!
Thanks for sharing so I could respond with blessings and positive vibes!!

I don't think I could have put it any better myself. You'll do great. Don't forget some of the weight may be down to the fibroid messing with your hormones and causing bloating, especially as it is a large one. That is probably part of the reason your tummy is bigger.

I wish you all the best for your op and your weight loss. I know you can do it with your positive attitude :flowerforyou:

Some of the weight, and abdominal bloating is probably related to the fibroid. But you are right- you need to start doing what you can to improve your fitness and general health beofre the op- it will help loads with reducing operation risks, improving wound healing, and reducing how long you are out of action for. 2-3 months is a decent amount of time to make some progress there. I would focus on being active (don't need to go to a gym, just walking/jogging etc will help) and eating sensibly, and don;t worry too much about the scales for now.
