Hi All,

I am new to forums in general but I need some help adding protein to my diet, I love to snack on almonds, cashews, etc, but never feel full after eating them as a snack. I generally dislike eggs, weird I know but I rarely eat them unless I'm going out to breakfast.

So I need some suggestions as to things I can add to my diet that can up my protein and to lower my carb intake.

Thanks!

Fat free Greek yogurt, 18 grams of protein per serving with low sugar and calorie counts!

Actually, me too. I know peanut butter is good for sticking to your ribs, but I'm the kind of person that would rather throw away the peanut butter toast and eat a pork chop for breakfast! LOL!

I'll be watching this forum. Thanks for asking!

Greek yogurt! If you can handle the thick texture, it is a great source of protein. I just had a key lime flavored greek yogurt this morning & it was almost like eating a slice of key lime pie- yummy!

I haven't been able to find the FF ones in my supermarket. They only have the ones with fruit (to high in sugar for me). Where do you find it?

meat! no carbs and lots of protein!

or a whey protein powder if you don't eat meat. Find one with 25g protein or more and very little carbs/sugar
  • I like to stir nuts into my fat free greek yogurt -- and I buy the plain fat free greek yogurt. It took me a couple of weeks to convince my taste buds, but it is an awesome snack and helps me get through the day feeling satisfied.

2 tablespoons of natural peanut butter with Granny Smith apple slices is my go-to snack and always gets me by.

Stick with plain greek chobani. low in sugars, carbs...and very high in protein. Even Fage, Oikos...aren't as high. Chobani is the best!

    Cottage cheese
    Yogurt
    Chicken
    Fish (Salmon, tuna, shrimp...)

I have a hard time getting in protein with foods all day so I supplement with protein shakes and bars. My favorite tasting protein is UNJURY. You can only buy it online but the price is reasonable. I also like Adkins Advantage protein bars.

meat, cheese, and yeah, protein shakes.
  • Awesome suggestions!
I love greek yogurt so that is something I should definitely be able to add in! I eat meat but I'm terrible at cooking it so I generally only have it when dining out!
I'm also a sucker for peanut butter have been avoiding it because it has so much sugar!

    Thanks so much!

I went to Costco last night. I came home with a premixed protein shake called Premium Nutrition with 30g of protein and only 3 carbs. It's the lowest carb one I could find. Sometimes you're just too busy to get out the protein powder. Also, I grabbed a rotisserie chicken and as soon as I got home took all of the meat off of it and put 5 oz. portions into baggies. I also found a fully cooked whole turkey breast that you can slice off what you want and fully cooked chicken with spinach and something or other -- I can't remember specifics -- that was 21g protein and little carbs. It's amazing what you can find out there when you look for it.

If you get all natural peanut butter, which you can find at a regular grocery store, it should only have one ingredient, peanuts. There will be zero sugar in it.
