Even though I can't afford it right now I just bought a half price ex-display Suunto T3. Well I did sell a few bits of crap on ebay, so it's more liek a swap than a buy, right?

For the same money I could have got a new Polar FT1 but I really wanted something that I could set intervals on as well as show calories burned. The T3 does this :)

For £40 I think I've got a bargain...providing it doesn't get lost in the post!!

Anyone else got this model? Mine comes without packaging or instructions so I will maybe need some help!

Looking forward to really checking my heart rate, because I think I probably workout at too high a level for my cardio if I'm honest. I do get carried away! Hopefully this will keep me on track (or in the target zone!).

Also for "impossible to guess" calorie burns such as rock climbing and weight training I'll get an accurate figure.

I've been guessing pretty well so far I think, but looking forward to fine-tuning things a bit.

Plus the interval timer will be brilliant as I swear by interval training and now I can stop counting and just wait for the beeps!

I've got the M5 and ive been really pleased with it. The manual should be available for download on the Suunto site.

Ok, so it arrived today and isn't immediately user friendly, but I'm getting there. The only problem is that my heart rate isn't showing.

It did, for a few seconds, the went, then came back a few seconds later, no it just isn't showing at all. It's paired with the belt and connected, but not reading my heart rate,

The monitor on my rower wan't working...maybe it's me, maybe I don't haave a heart rate???

    Any tips?
  • Hi martinhurton,

The strap needs to be moist and conductive in order to sense your heart rythym.

First make sure the strap is clean (if you bought it used).

The strap actually picks up the electrical activity sent to your heart muscles (not the actual beating of the heart) through your skin. If there are any obstructions - the sensor won't work. You can either use an electroconductive gel (available at Amazon.com) or simply wet the electrodes with plain water. After you start sweating, the salt in your sweat makes a good conductor and the HR should pick up the activity.

If after all this, it still doesn't work, then I believe either your sensor strap is faulty (or dead battery) or the watch reciever is faulty (or weak battery.)

    Good Luck
  • Thanks for the reply. It works fine now, turned out, as you said, needs moisture!

    Cheers, Martin
