Eye Freckle?

I had a minor scare at the eye doctor today...while checking my son's eye the girl went and got the doctor. When they came back in he said they found "something" during his exam *insert knot in stomach here*...turns out its just a freckle IN his eye...only my kid would have something like that. :ohwell: I was just curious if anyone else has ever had/heard of this?

I have a tiny freckle by my eye. Always thought it was something ON my eye 'til I realized, oh wait, it's not going away. lol

Haha, yeah, they're called choroidal nevus. Nothing to worry about, just looks funny on exams :laugh: I have a friend with one.

Yes I have heard of it. My husband got something in his eye at work and the nurse freaked out cuz he had a black dot in his eye. Thinking it was a piece of metal they rushed him to an eye specialist. I got the call and was scared to death. I met him at the specialist and they told us it was a eye freckle and that he had it since he was a babe. They washed out his eye and did get the dirt out that he had got in it. We had been married about 15 yrs and I had never noticed it. lol

I had a freckle in my eye when I was a child. I'm not sure if it was the same thing as your son has: in my case, it was surgically removed and I had follow-up eye examinations once a year for the next few years afterwards.

That is quite strange, I have never heard of such a thing! But I guess it's possible!
