I've given myself 9 months to lose weight and sure enough I'm in the home stretch and still have 10 lbs to go! It's SO close but I can't seem to stay disciplined! I've read all the articles about things to do to stay motivated, but I haven't found anything that really works. I get caught up in the moment & for a second become SUPER motivated but its easier said than done when it actually comes time to act on it!

How can I stick to this goal I set for myself!? I need help! Any & all suggestions are welcome!!!

Thanks!

-Britt

P.S. My picture is my goal - that IS NOT me!

    Hey Britt,

I'm in the same boat, I set a target months ago & was tracking really well - now 10kg to go with time rapidly ticking down (I'm off to the USA in October - thats 10kg in 40 days!!) I'm stuck & have been for about 6 weeks - you know the story up 1kg down 800g up 500g down 1kg....

I'm taking it each day at a time & trying to be a good as I can, setting the big weekly targets arent working for me as I get frustrated then fall off the wagon. I've also stopped focusing on the number so intendly & am looking more at how I feel/my clothes. I do a lot of weights/strenght training & we all know muscle weight more than fat...

What are you/arent you doing re food/excercise?
  • Hi there! I stick to 1200 calories a day and try to exercise for 30min a day (TRY is the keyword there) so I know once I exercise more and eat better I will lose the weight but I just let myself slip too often... I don't hold myself accountable and I need to fix that somehow!

I know my eating habits can improve because even though I'm still at 1200 calories/day, WHAT I'm eating can make a big difference. Food is just so yummy sometimes! Although I remember someone saying "no food can taste as good as being thin feels" but again, thats easier said than done.

    Any ideas to stay motivated?

the closer you are to your goal weight the slower the weight will come off. Also I think if your that close to goal you should be eatting more than 1200cal

    You're stronger than you think.

What do you weigh, how tall are you, exercise at all?

I would push my goal out to make it more attainable.

You dont want to stumble this close to the finish line!
  • The only reason I'm giving myself 30days is becasue I'll be on vacation in a bathing suit and want to feel good about my accomplishment! I've had 9 months and don't want to let myself down!

Thanks kneeki, its that positive reinforcement that helps! I'm currenlty 159 and want to be 149 like I was when I was working out every night (Of course that was 5 years ago when I was single and could go to the gym without having to worry about anyone at home) I'm 5"9 and try to work out at least 3 times a week.

You know you can do it - you need to make a committment to yourself every day that you deserve to feel as good as you did when you were 149 & you deserve to look HOT on your holiday!

Have you got your ideal pic up somewhere at home where you can see it every day or a couple of times a day? Maybe that would help serve as the motivation you need when you need it? Or stop you reaching for something you know you shouldnt be eating...

Or how about making a committment for only the next 30 days to do at miminum of 120 minutes a week - thats only 2 *60 or 4 *30 sessions, you might find 2 weeks in your back up to 5 sessions...
