    Wish us well Ladies, taking my 12y/o to All Children Hospital, hoping for a diagnoses. Our fingers are crossed for something less than what we think it will be, Tourette's syndrome, but even if that's what it is, at least we have answers.

    Hope everyone has a good weigh-in today, I won't be back on til tonite if at all, depending on how the day goes.

    I actually didn't see your original post (just the quote) but I had to reply... to make a really looooong story short, I have a 9 yr. old son with several problems one of which is "mental illness of unknown ideology" as the docs say, so I truly understand.     Weekly +/- : -2lbs
    Total +/- : -30.4lbs!
    Goal: Did not acheieve my goal to kiss the 230s goodbye this week. Still, lost 2 lbs, so that's great. I'm a little disappointed because this loss did accomplish my goal of losing 30lbs, but I fee like that is tarnished by that stupid .7lb more I needed to lose to weigh in at 229.9. That would have been great! But alas, it was not to be. So my goal for this week is to keep working hard and see that number drop below 230. More importantly, I felt really good about how hard I worked this week and I want to keep feeling like that, so regardless of the number on the scale, my real goal is to exercise every moment I am able

    This week's challenge looks awesome!!!

  • did day one of week 6 and what a struggle!!! i am a carboholic so I already have a low number start with, but I did it and i am super starving this morning. Craving red meat!!
    today under calories and have to travel.. another challenge!

    those hip flexors didn't seem that hard, but I feel it in my lower abs today!
    pushups.... YUCK, coming from a person with a bad neck and upper back. i do modified of course.!!!

    Emotional Challenge: (I figure thinking about this will help me recommit as well as earn a point for our team:wink: )

    for me the moment of clarity was a double whammy. I was super concerned and stressed about what type of finger foods to introduce to my then 9 month old son. all I could think was "if he gets used to eating bad foods like hotdogs, KD, anyhing with added sugar then he will end up fat like me". I was terrified about what I should and shouldn't give him. I swore he would never eat fast food, never taste a hot dog, and never drink juice. I was completely committed to keeping him healthy and giving him the best start nutritionally possible.... and then I went to the kitchen and heated up my lunch of pizza pops and poured a glass of pepsi... double standard much? But still I was sure that I could keep him from going down the road I was and had been on for so long. And then it hit me: how am i going to explain to a small child why Mommy is allowed to have McD's for lunch but he has to eat a homemade sandwich on whole wheat bread with a bunch of veggies. Why can Mommy and Daddy scarf down on chips and sweets and he is limited to a single sugar free cookie? And the final kicker was: why am I willing to put my son on a super strict diet (not that I would limit calories per say, but just limit his options. I would NEVER actually make a child diet) when I am unwilling to do it myself? So then, as my son napped and I drowned my sorrows and all my worries in various types of junk foods while sitting on the couch watching bad daytime TV I had a moment where I resigned myself to the fact that despite all my best intentions, my son wuld eventually either a) pick up on all my and my hubby's bad habits or b) rebel against all the fresh fruit and veggies and gorge on junk food at every oppurtunity once he was old enough. For just a moment, I resigned myself to the fact that my beautiful baby boy, as well as an future siblings would be fat like me...

    And then I said "F#@% THAT!". Right then and there I put down the junk food and I haven't looked back. Shortly thereafter my hubby joined me (and can I just say, he is doing awesome!!! he has lost about 45 lbs and looks amazing!) and together we are learning about healthy choices. We are training our bodies to be active instead of sedentary (sidenote: I actually miss exercise when I take a day off). We are learning that the previously-thought "bad foods" are ok in moderation. Becasue we want our son to grow into a confident, healthy, active little boy that doesn't feel encumbered by his weight. I also don't want him to be weighed down worrying about what he eats. In our house we have dessert every day! But our dessert (both for Mommy & Daddy as well as our son) is a bowl of fresh fruit. Treats, on the other hand, like soft cookies or a hot dog for lunch are occasional and that much more exciting for everyone when we do have them.

    So that's my clarity, inspriation and personal philosophy all rolled into one. And all that being said, I feel better about the day. I'm going to work out twice as hard tonight due to my renewed optomism. Wouldn't Jillian Michaels be proud:tongue:

    Thanks ladies!! I appreciate your kind words, it is overwhelming at times but in the end we will be healthier, stronger women and mother. The world needs more of those type of women. I am so proud of all the Teams and everyone who has stuck with this! In the end we will be the ones who really benifit from this!

    For Wed:
    Nutrition: I was under carbs, I stay around 100g and ended the day with 71g. I'm use to keeping my carbs on the low side.
    Strength: Hip flexors are done.
    Calorie Burn: 60min of strength training, chest & tricepes, and 45min @ 3.5mph.

    For Thurs:
    Nutrition: I should end the day under, I'm no where near going over and it's almost 4pm.
    Strength: 50 push-ups, done
    Calorie burn: A.M. - 45min @ 3.5mph, Noon - Butt Bible video, P.M. - another 45min @ 3.5mph

    Emotional Challenge:
    What was your moment of clarity?

    My moment didn't come until I had lost about 12lbs. My original goal was to lose enough weight to get back into last years shorts, but then it became more about proving a point to a friend, that I could lose the weight and get back down to the weight I was at 15 years and 3 children ago.
    At that point I started lifting weights to help with my weight loss. About two weeks into lifting I started seeing results and that was my moment. That was when I realized that it didn't matter that it had been years since I had lifted a dumb bell, and that I had gained weight. If I started to treat my body the way I had when I was in my 20's it would respond the same as it had back then.
    So although my friend's assy comment gave me the first push, my moment came when I realized that I actually COULD get back what I once had (or pretty darn close to it). Although I have to say, it's more work than it was back then, a lot more cardio and a WHOLE lot less carbs, but it is definatly worth it.

    Here's my emotional challenge for the week

    What was your moment of clarity?
    My husband is the one who inspired this for me (as I've said several times already). He was already changing his life, but I was using the excuse that I was pregnant...then that I had just had a baby and everything that goes along with that. I'm not sure the exact moment...but after I really saw his dedication, his change, especially when he fell in love with running...I knew this was "it" for him. And I was so happy for him, but I wondered if I'd ever find MY "it". And his quiet leadership just really inspired me to want to change finally! A matter of a few weeks after I'd made a major lifestyle change, looking BACK was my moment of clarity! You know the saying hindsight is 20/20...just looking back at some food choices (McD's dollar menu mainly) it was just appalling to me what I'd allowed myself to eat in the past with no real regard to health. I had played the victim card that I was just always gonna be big...nothing I could do to change it, so may as well eat whatever. Every day is renewing my clarity, and it's such an incredible feeling to know I will never go back to being that person that I was. :)

    Hey-- Hope we're all well.. I'm .. exhausted!! I can say that I'm SOOO glad tomorrow is Friday-- I don't have any daycare kids, so it's a long weekend for me! I'm so going to "sleep in". ( Oh, I'll still be awake at 7 with Emma.. but I can keep her entertained while I lie there comatose for a while!!) I I would like to have a quiet weekend, but there's HUGE goings on in my town this weekend-- TSN is coming to so a spot there as we won a $25000 prize to repair our arena roof as part of the Kraft Celebration Tour. Of course, that also means bbqs all over the place.. so we'll see how I do!

    I'm doin' good with the daily challenges--
    Wed--under carbs-- Yep! I may have only had 6 left, but that counts!!
    --Hip flexors -- done!
    -- cardio--3 mile Leslie Sansone.. at 10:30pm... so that I would be under on my carbs and calories! 331 calories!

    Thurs- Under Calories-- yup!
    - 50 (on your knees)pushups... did them after my workout! Of course, by the time I got to 30, doing more than 5 at a time was killer.. but they're done!
    -cardio-- Day 10 of L2 of 30ds, and tonight 4 mile fast walk DVD... for which I got to use my NEW HRM!!!! Wheeee!!

    As for my emotional... I'm still letting that sink in for a bit. My brain likes to have a little time to process these things!

    As Lynda said I will be out of town until Tuesday night on a work trip, I will try to say hello as often as I can but I am sure I will be super busy but we all get addicted to MFP and SAHMU so I don't know how long I can stay away, all of you have a great week!!

    Big thank you to my girl Renu!!

    Renu, I know you have been having a tough time with injuries and health issues with your feet and legs this last little while. The last few days I've been a little demotivated about working out. I think it's cuz I finally hit the 30lbs loss that I had been looking forward to so my brain started whispering "take a break - you deserve it" even when I still have a long way to go to reach my end goal and I don't want to lose steam now. Anyways, I didn't do much yesterday and I did my 30ds grudgingly this morning but I just didn't have the "go get em" attitude I normally do. Anyways, I'm at work, bored out of my skull so I'm checking in on MFP again and I see that Renu is so dedicated that she is alternating walking at a mid-pace for 20 mins and resting her aching foot to get her exercise in. That dedication blew me away! I was inspired enough to go for a powerwalk at lunch (albeit a short one due to time contraints) and to jog the 6 flights of stairs to my office twice! And I enjoyed every second of it. I am offically out of the workout funk I was in and am so inspired to keep going! Thank you Renu, for being a leader and setting a phenomenal example!!

    Just had the best post-workout smoothie ever. Mmmmmm... Apparently, a tablespoon or 2 of peanut butter is enough to make me a happy gal! Oh, who am I kidding.. as I've said before, pb is my kryptonite!!

    Anyway, stayed under my fat today! ( Hmm, just got a WEIRD visual there...) Still have 8 to go.. and I actually had to think about it too!!
    Bicycle crunches done this morning, and made my calorie burn up to 1043! ( 30 DS, 3 miles walking DVD, and then tonight 65 min on the gazelle). But my goodness, I'm tired!! It was using my HRM, so now that I know its accurate.. apparently there were some things that may not have been before. I'm actually wondering if I may need to adjust my spreadsheet goal too. Now that I KNOW what I'm burning.. well, I don't know that I can spend 2 hrs working out everyday this week to hit my goal! Plus, trying to eat that back so I'm over my BMR is INSANE. I'll leave it for a bit though.. just to see if I can do it!

    So I just had the BEST night ever. Went out for a girlfriend's birthday BBQ and it was a lot of people I hadn't seen seen in a good 4-5 years. I was saying hi to everyone and NO one knew who I was, when I said, "Michelle Mann..." everyone was like "NO WAY!! I would never have recognized you, you look so skinny!" Wow talk about a confidence boost! Not 1 person recognized me :)

    Went shopping with my super toned and fit girlfriend last nite. I've always been too ashamed to go clothing shopping with her b/c she takes such good care of her self and I felt so fat. Not that she ever judged me, she is way too sweet, in fact she has always been very complimentary of me, but still i was ashamed of me. Anyways, my work pants are all size 18 and slipping off my hips, and I have some big meetings coming up in the next few weeks so I had to get something that I wouldn't l have to constantly hike up. I called my friend and we meet at the mall. She hasn't seen me for a month and she was blown away by my progress! She was so proud of me! And even though I'm still way bigger than her, i was eager to have her help me pick new pants. I got a great deal on a few pairs of size 16 dress pants. Still bigger than I wanted to buy, but they were cheap and they fit well. In fact, as I was checking them out in the mirror, my girlfriend and the sales girl (who knew I had lost weight as well) were both raving about how good my butt and thighs looked.

    And today I met my sister for coffee. She never gives me compliments. She usually just tears me down. Anyways, even she commented on how much smaller my butt is! yay!

    So here is my emotional challenge...

    Many times my hubby used to tell me that I need to lose... But I would try to reduce for a week and give off... Probably I was never serious on losing... It was during the time of my b'day and I bought few tops for myself.. I wore them and saw myself in the mirror and i looked awful... Was just thinking..when did i become so fat, my tummy was looking ugly, it still is, but its much better... I wanted to wear my Indian dress, Sari... I always look better in sari, but this time i was looking so fat.. and my top was not fitting me.. It was stitched just 2 months before and its not fitting me... I was looking horribly bad...

    I now realize why everyone kept telling me that I need to reduce.. Often I used to browse through other dancer's profiles and they look so slim and well maintained.. Curves are clearly visible.. Even I was the same at some point.. Now I don't look like a dancer at all...I have always been very emotional about my dancing... I like it so much and I don't look good on the stage anymore.. Of course, everyone appreciated the other day, may be cuz of my expressions and my presentation, but general audience what they first notice is the dancer's personality and I am so awful now...

    So I promised to myself, that before I go back to India, may be for a vacation or something, I will get back to shape and people who criticized me on my personality will have no words to say this time...
