Every thing i buy says is based on a 2,000 calories diet. does that mean that you can still lose weight eating that many calories and why does MFP give us only 1,200 to start out with? I know it depends on the person but its just something i'd like to know.

I gained weight because I was consuming 2000+ calories a day without exercise. MFP tells me for my weight, size and activity level I should eat 1200 calories. I am finally after several years of yo yoing the same few pounds - truly losing weight. So no matter what you read - you have to figure out for you how much you can eat and still lose weight. That's why MFP works so well - is it gives you a true picture of the calories you are consuming - no more denial about that. Good luck to you!0
