I just toss in a TON of veggies (fresh, frozen... what ever is in the house) some chicken breast cut into small strips and franks red hot... low cal, and TONS of flavor - this assumes you like spicy stuff :)
  • I may be wrong, but essentially if you're using fresh or frozen veggies and just add a bit of protein - like chicken or steak - you will keep your calories low. You don't have to add rice, but if you do, use brown - the fiber is better for you than white.

For spice, I use ginger and lots of garlic. You get that oriental feel without all the calories of a "sauce ina jar."

    Use quinoa instead of rice.

I just use a low sodium soy sauce and use just a small amount of it. Stir fry at home is one of the lowest cal dinners I have and it's super filling!

    Last night I made:
    http://www.skinnytaste.com/2011/06/thai-chicken-and-pineapple-stir-fry.html

It was AWESOME! served over quinoa but over brown rice would be good too.

MLEme, that sounds delicious! I'm going to try that when stir fry comes up on our menu next.

I like Honey and Soy Sauce.

Ingredients Calories Carbs Fat Protein Sugar Fiber
    Honey - 1 Tbsp., 4 TBL. 240 69 0 0 69 0
    Kikkoman - Less Sodium Soy Sauce, 4 tablespoon (15mL) 40 4 0 4 0 0
    Add Ingredient
    Total: 280 73 0 4 69 0
    Per Serving: 47 12 0 1 12 0

I get 6 servings of my stir fry easily so it is only 47 calories for the sauce.

I always put in chicken and 2 bags of frozen veggies. Served over rice.

Real chopped garlic, freshly grated ginger, Bragg's Liquid Aminos (0 calories and lower sodium than soy sauce), lemongrass...

and one Tbs of the Iron Chef teriyaki sauce is 25 calories.

www.skinnytaste.com has Tons of good recipes. I've made several so far (doing about one a week)

Santa Fe Chicken, Easiest Broccoli Pasta, Asian Grilled Chicken, Taco dip, Thai Chicken and Pineapple. I'm not sure what is next.
