Hi all,
Right I've a monster jacket potato..
AND I've some salad - but need something to make it slightly less "diet-y" - any ideas ?
If I have nothing else, I'm also quite a long way under my calories for today.
PS - Also another question, am I allowed to carry over or save up cals for another day ? Reason I ask, I used to be a WWgirl, and you could save up points for a day when you knew you had a special event and eating out etc. So... I was out last night for a curry, and went over my cals, today I'm under, tomorrow I'm out again. Can I save today's for tomorrow ???

You can't really save up calories, as such.
I don't know what you have in your kitchen, but if you need more calories you could put some cheese on the jacket potato. Do you eat meat?0 -
Personally, I love throwing grilled chicken on both the potato and the salad to up the protein and make them more filling/yummy! One of my favorite ways to dress up a baked potato is with grilled chicken, a little butter, light sprinkle of cheese, and then salsa and a drizzle of fat free ranch. The same toppings go great on a salad, too, for a more zesty feeling than just "potato and salad." Sometime I can even trick myself into thinking that I'm eating Mexican food ;-) And I feel WAY better afterwards!
As to your calorie question - in essence, yes, you can go over one day, be under the next, and have it wash for the week. If you want to be really accurate, just multiply your daily calorie goal by 7, and you'll see how many cals/week you have to work with. If there's a special event that will soak up more, plan for it, and balance accordingly. Cutting 3500 cals out of your diet (by "diet" I am referring to what your body needs per week to just maintain itself) per week will lead to 1lb of fat loss - whether it's by a 500 deficient per day or two days of fasting (note - do not recommend the latter! But the math works the same).
Good luck!0 -
Brilliant! Lovng the chicken, chese n salsa idea - wouldn't think of putting the 3 together.. Yum! Definitely gonna try that, and LOVE to trick myself too. By feeling like you are having a treat./something naughty you don't feel like you're being good.
And I don't want to binge, just keep in control of what I'm eating -and as you say "by planning for it" I am managing what I eat altogether. I will still make good choices, like last night I went out for an Indian and chose a drier dish rather than a creamy sauce AND I didn't drink alcohol (and I LOVE a Cobra beer with a curry, so think I did well!)..
Thanks for your advice/recommendations.. can't wait for teatime now... Mmmmmmm...0
