My mechanical food scale broke today so I'll need a new one and am thinking of going digital this time. I don't want to spend much money and am not looking for anything fancy, just want something that I can weigh food portions on.
What brand do you use and recommend?

I got a cheapish Salter
http://www.amazon.com/Salter-Stainless-Accents-Electronic-7-Pound/dp/B004WP5EEG
And love it. The best thing is you can zero out the weight after putting a bowl on it, so then you can measure your food into that and get the true weight. Makes it really easy. And it does grams and oz.
Honestly, you'll probably love any digital scale cause they're so easy to read and use.0 -

I have the biggest loser food scale and love it! I got it as a wedding present I actually regestered for it. It will weigh a lot heavier then my moms will and she has a more expensive one. You can get it at walmart even.0

I have that one & I'm pretty happy with it. It has an 11 pound weight limit, which is really nice.0 -
Timing is perfect... I was going to post the same question. I have a couple more for you all...
1) Have you ever calibrated your scale... if so, did you buy an actual calibration weight(s)?
2) Has anyone used a "flat" digital scale? I'm looking for something smallish and easy to store. Advice, opinions?
Thanks!!0 -
I've never needed to calibrate mine it recalibrates every time it starts up to start with 0.00 oz. The biggest loser scale is pretty low profile I wouldn't say it is flat but I can fit it in a drawer no problem or in my cupboard.0

I use Starfrit. Nothing fancy but I like that I can change to ounces, grams or whatever at the touch of a button.0

I love mine!! It is made by Escali. It gives each food a code. You put the code in and it tells you the calories, carbs, protein, fat, fiber of the food! I love it! I use it for my fresh foods, like fruits and veggies, so I know exactly how many calories are in these foods, depending on their weight. Bananas are crazy! Some are 65 cal, some are 130 cal!!0
