  • When I was 270 lbs I had issues with my period all the time. cramps, lots of bleeding, bloated for the whole 7 days and others. After I dropped 100 lbs (booya!) total difference. My cramps, medium bleeding, and bloating only last about 2-3 days and the rest of the week is mild, almost not there (except the emotions, I still cry alot over stupid things).
Okay, absolutely not to the nuva ring and the iud. I know that they are awful for causing yeast infections if you're prone to them.

I take Cryselle norgestrel in 0.3 mg. The only side effect I had is that the first month after I switched to it from my other birth control, it made my period last for like 5 days instead of three, but it's back to the 3 now. I haven't gained weight, doesn't make me irritable, I like it.

I'm old fashioned. I used a diaphragm with spermicide and it worked fantastically. You won't hear anybody using them anymore because health care doesn't make any money off of them... it's all about the business.

Easy to put in and take out, easy on the budget, and it worked like a charm. It doesn't have to interrupt anything; you can put it in up to 2+ hours before you are expecting/hoping for any action.

It doesn't affect your hormones, mood, cramping, weight gain, etc etc etc, as it is a barrier method.

I have 2 kids now, both were conceived when going completely goalie-free and on purpose.

DH is fixed now...... yeah baby yeah!!!!! :drinker:

AND NOW TO SWING OFF INTO A TANGENT...
A note for those who may consider getting pregnant later - that based on my research, nausea on the birth control pill may indicate that you will have a lot of nausea during pregnancy. I had nausea 24/7 for the full pregnancy both times starting at week 6 and I vomited 3 times a day until 6 months pregnant. It was worse than any stomach flu I had ever had. I took Diclectin and Gravol during both pregnancies. Motherisk at Toronto's Sick Kids hospital told me that without meds, I would probably have developed HG. On the good side, my kids were both born very healthy after short labours and the nausea stopped the moment they were born. At ages 7 and 11, they are both tall, healthy and intelligent. Neither nausea nor meds seem to have had ill effects. I also gained excessive weight both pregnancies because I ate to calm the nausea so I wouldn't vomit.

Maybe. I had morning sickness or nausea all nine months of my pregnancy (right down to IN the delivery room, puking in a bedpan). The pill never made me sick.

I have the Nuva Ring... But after what wdmom said, maybe do a little more research before you get it.

I love it, and use two in a row before having my period. So six weeks, then period. As long as I do that, I don't have any spotting. Once in awhile I'll get a hormonal headache for half an hour or so about 18 hours after I put it in. It hasn't happened in a few months, though.
