Avoiding snacking after lunch.

I rarely get ever get sweet cravings, unless the day ends with the letter Y. But in all seriousness, I ate my lunch at 12:30pm. About 15 minutes later, my sweet tooth kicks in. It has not done this to me in quite some time now, so I was shocked. I actually started digging in my purse to find money for the dreaded vending machine. I stopped, sat down a minute and realized that my boss is off for two weeks and always leaves food in the mini fridge haha So I go take a peek and find a Yo Crunch (oreo flavor) ...perfect! So i'm tying this as i'm chowing down on the yogurt. Consuming only 3 grams of fat versus 10+ in a candy bar. Its kind of a proud moment for me. Now I just have to replace it before he returns and no damage done. To my boss or my waist
How do others curb the sweet cravings? I'm sure this moment will strike again when I least expect it, your ideas will help me be better prepared ( you know...instead of stealing *cough* borrowing *cough* my bosses yogurt)

I try to keep 100 calorie chocolate snacks in my desk; my favorite are skinny cow treats. Also, bring in skinny cow chocolate ice bars; they really hit that spot and are only 100 calories. Delicious and you don't feel guility.0

I have a teaspoon of Nutella chocolate spread. That does me just fine and satisfies that after dinner sweet fix :-)0

I eat 1 kiss after my lunch. It tends to curb my sweet & chocolate craving at once.0

I usually carry around a Fiber One bar or a bag of veggies to munch on. I also drink a glass of water even though its not always the best tasting. :drinker:0

Gum. I especially like Trident Vitality.
If that doesn't appeal to you, I also like to have strawberries on hand (with a little yogurt or cottage cheese and a few almond slices - it's my go to snack).
Every once in a while I will treat myself with a reese's mini, or a mini kit kat (if I really need a piece of candy). But a lower calorie alternative is a sugar free fudge pop. I have some at home that are only 40 calories a piece!0 -
I love sugar free Popsicles 15 calories works every time0

I plan my afternoon snacks @ work, but if I have a super gnarly craving I'll make myself a HUGE glass of iced tea. If it's the winter time I keep various types of flavored teas (Stash makes a great caramel tea) and that really helps my sweet tooth.0

Emerald brand cocoa roasted almonds in a 100 calorie pack. You get a high protein snack and chocolate! YAY!!0

Brush your teeth! If you just have a sweet craving and are not truly hungry, it works.0

I do the gum thing as well. Right now my obsession is with Extra Dessert Delights in mint chocolate chip flavor!0

Good job on avoiding the vending machine!
Ditto to this...I love the skinny cow brand, but pretty much any 100 cal pack will curb the idea my body has that I need dessert after lunch and dinner lol! 90 cal fiber one bars help me too! I realize it might not be an option if you're on a work schedule but I also try not to have my lunch until 2pm...this leaves a lot less time between lunch and dinner for me to get hungy!0 -
I keep a bag of fun size candy bars at my desk. Most days I don't eat any but I like knowing they're there. And if I happen to need chocolate, it's there.0

I always bring two squares of 75% dark chocolate to work with me.. Pack it with my lunch every day.. If I get a craving I eat it.. If I don't I save it and have it in the evening.. I was never a fan before but since there are health benefits and it's more natural to me then some of the 100 cal packs I found that I've come to enjoy it and it actually really hits that chocolate fix button in my brain..0

I usually give in.. lol however, there are times where I will remind myself I have fruit in the fridge, since I also plan my meals, snacks etc. I have rice cakes drizzled with chocolate. but sometimes i can't help the fact that there are M&M's that call my name.. lol
I'd love to know what others do to help the "bad snacking"...0 -

Me, too!0 -
:explode: Atomic Fireballs (Cinnamon Jawbreakers) have been a crave-saver for me! Just finished with lunch myself and reached for one! High-calorie snacking averted!0

Wow, such amazing ideas! Thank you all so much for the great response I won't find myself snack-less again0

Don't know why but I usually want to graze all afternoon too. Always have. Congratulations on choosing the yogurt!
Wasa crispbreads work for me for snacking/crunching satisfaction. Not sweet, but they do crunch. Also, Jacobsen's snack toast is a sweet, low calorie alternative, but not as satisfying to me as the Wasa.
Green tea really does help too. Time to go put the kettle on myself.0
