HRM not working in specific area.

I started working out at the "big" gym at our work for the last two days and each time my HRM has been messing up. It won't pick up or tell me that my HR is 200 something. I've used different machines and still the same thing. I've used the "small gym" last night and many weeks prior with no problems. Can it be something interfering in the building itself??
Finally today I put my hand in one spot on the elliptical and it picked up, but everytime I moved it, it would mess up...so I got an accurate reading for the most part, but I had to keep my hand still.
I've been super happy with it for the last 5-6 weeks. It's a Sportline duo 1010.
Thanks

Are you using the grips on the machines or are you wearing a strap? (Straps are much more accurate)0

I have the EXACT same HRM as you and I constantly have problems with it not keeping my rate. I did switch the watch so the face was on the inside of my wrist and that helped some. I can also tell you, as strange as this sounds, the chest strap picks up my rate better when I wear my Adidas sports bra instead of the Nike one. Can't explain it. They aren't the best HRMs in general but hubby bought it for my birthday so I am trying to make it work. Not sure if it is the machine interfering or if it's more that when you place your hand on the machine, the watch and strap are making a better connection with your arm in that position. You could also try changing the batteries. Thats my next step.
Good Luck!0 -
I am not familiar with that brand, but I have a polar with a washable chest strap. I rinse it out after each use. I try to launder it at least 3 X month. I find that when the HR gets weird its probably time to stick in the laundry. If your is washable, that may be the problem.0

thanks everyone...I was wondering if it was the particular bra I was wearing, too. I've used it with wire bras before with no problem, but I can't remember if I've used this particular one with it. I think I can wash it, so thats my next step, too!!0
