I have been at my job for 1 year and have always turned down happy hour because of dieting. Every one is going out at 5 today and I said I would go. It always sounds like a lot of fun. What to get?! A preztel?! 10" inch thin crust pizza?? What is better!??! Also they have Maryland famous beer I know I won't be able to turn down. Just b/c it says "light" does it mean light in calories?! Any help please?!

Get a salad w/ the balsamic dressing on the side. If you want a pizza, go for a vegetarian one - they have a few on the menu, like the margherita one. You don't need to eat all of it. I'm not much of one for alcohol (I'd rather eat my calories) but if one beer makes it so you have a nice night out and then drink water or club soda w/ wine after that one, that isn't so bad.0

I would either get the veggie pizza or the field of greens
You can splurge every once in a while.. go ahead! Just get back on track tomorrow! Enjoy!

Just go have fun, tests have shown that one day of being off your diet doesnt effect your weightloss. Its good to have fun with friends, enjoy it and don't worry.0

The hearts of fire salad looks good. Be careful with the dressing though. I'd go wtih the balsamic or even just fresh lemons squeezed over the salad with some salt and pepper
enjoy!

Resturants are always difficult for me... what I try to do is either check the website and see if they have a nutritional/calorie info page which this one doesn't appear to have or call ahead and ask them what the lighter items are. That way you can order when you get there and know in advance without having to ask at the table which can be embarrasing. If they don't know then just try to get something with lots of veggies and use as little sauce as possible. You can also look up individual items like pizza etc for an approximate idea of what calories are. Also, perhaps opt for the whole grain pizza dough if possible or a salad if you're cool with that. I've found some salads can be as much as a burger or pizza even so perhaps just have fun and then make up for it in the next few days.0

It looks great!
I would go with the Fresh Mozzarella, any of the salads (with dressing ON THE SIDE), the veggie dog pizza (plan on taking home or splitting with someone), the spinach pizza (again, split) and make sure to get the pizza crust extra thin (less calories and fat).
Then have a glass of wine... you can get out of there for <500 calories..and then have a small snack for "dinner" instead of tons more food later.
Enjoy!0 -
I try to choose a protein snack. Nothing fried, no cheese, no bread, no dips. That can be tricky. Sometimes I'll order from the dinner menu and ask for it as an appetizer portion if I'm really stuck.
Try Shrimp cocktail, unsalted nuts, vegetables. This week I had a tuna/avocado/tomato salsa on chips, and then ate the salsa and two chips. Another gal had shredded pork tacos. She ate the meat and vegetable toppings and skipped the sour cream, cheese, and tortillas.
I found this article helpful http://www.webmd.com/diet/features/low-calorie-cocktails
Champagne or white wine are the lowest calorie options and I don't have to say 'diet mixer' or anything that sounds like I'm counting calories.
And I always order water, and hold that instead of the cocktail so I do my 'automatic' sipping from the low cal option.0 -

Great idea.. I will use that this weekend. I am going to a chocolate bar with amazing chocolate martini's and desserts.. EEP!!0 -
You've already gotten good food suggestions, so I'll just answer one question: yes, light beer has less calories than regular beer. How "light" is light will depend on the brand, but most of them are under 110 calories.
Edited to fix my typos because I'm that kind of gal.0
