HELP!

I was recently diagnosed as having PCOS which now makes me realize why it took me 5 months to loose the small amount of weight I did all the while craving carbs like a mad woman. I've heard about a low glycemic diet but have no clue what that means and was hoping those of you ladies with PCOS who are going about loosing weight this way could tell me how it works? I've been perscribed Met and when I hit Tuesday of next week I will be on a 1500mg a day dose.
