My wife sent me the link to this site. The more I read the more excited I got. I'm 65 and had back surgery 3 years ago which put a big drop in my activity level. I had a physical last Friday and my Doc said if I don't drop 30 pounds I will be a diabetic in 2 years. I have several medical issue right now and he said that losing the weight will solve almost all of them. That's all I needed.to hear.
I've set my goal at 50 pounds. That would put me at a weight that I always felt comfortable at. WISH ME LUCK!!

Hi I'm Jgilforeal, I had a physical as well and my BP was elevated and my blood sugar was close to being considered prediabetic. I was started on a BP med. I'm not fond of medications and now realize that if I lost the weight not only would my BP decrease but my blood sugar as well. I started Zumba on Monday and had a blast. My instructor holds Zumba 3 x wk. I never thought exercise would be fun but it is. Good luck with your weight loss journey.

    Hello and welcome,
You will be thanking your wife for putting you on to this site,
it's absolutely amazing, from the tools to the awesome people
that will inspire, encourage, and motivate you on this journey!

I started this journey June 6th after seeing a specialist regarding
my thyroid problem and she was more concerned that I was borderline diabetic,
now having a daughter that is diabetic (and so is her father) I did not want to go down that path!
So I took matters into my own hands and here i am 34 lbs lighter YAY!
So you can do this, and hopefully it will be an easier journey here being inspired by folks
    with similar issues.

I wish you much success in reaching and surpassing your goals!
Please feel free to add me for support!

It is never too late to start. I am 48 years old and one year ago I smoked over a pack of cigarettes a day and drank alcohol every day. I go to the gym four times a week for Zumba and meet with my trainer twice a week. It is much harder than it used to be, but I am focused and determined.

Go for it. What do you have to lose. Oh yea, weight and health problems. You can do it. This is a great website and it is encouraging to know others are really out there in the same boat!
