SUPER-embarassing question...

  • Anti-monkey butt works good at preventing chaffing but treating existing is a job for aloe vera. Time to hit the baby section for some Vit A&D ointment. If you can find it dermagran barrier cream contains a lot of zinc which really speeds up the healing more so than A&D.

Well here's a suggestion I haven't seen yet... An esthetician once told me, freeze grapes slice in half and rub on the burn. Grapes contain free radicals to ward off sun damage and vit C for faster healing. Also, ice will help to stop ur skin from cooking. Yes, your skin is still cooking so cool it down ASAP. I hope it's not that bad. If you blister that's another thing. Get better soon!

I have found that the only thing that works for me is wearing spandex, mens spandex to be exact. They are longer and cover the areas that chaff the worst. I tried powder but I sweat unbelieveably so it did no good. I hope this helps.

The issue isn't the inner thighs, they're fine. It's literally IN my buttcrack between the cheeks! (Sorry, I tried to be delicate before, but it seems some may have misinterpreted!) I was wearing cotton panties, and assumed they'd be best as they "breathe" well. What type should I be wearing?

Thanks for all the suggestions, I have barrier cream and diaper rash stuff, as I'm a mother of 2! I'll try those for now!

Prevention: Aquaphor!!! It's the runners secret. i was told to put this every where. It also helps to minimize blisters that may appear on the feet after running long miles.

Golds bond is great but if you dont have any corn startch is soothing. Corn startch is even better if refrigerated.
  • I have had problems with chafing before and it is very painful but, the good news is, once you treat it with the right product it goes away extremely fast!

I'd say try a burn ointment, since that's kinda sorta what chaffing is.

To prevent it, I HIGHLY recommend a product called "Body Glide". Comes in a stick form that looks sort of like deodorant. I buy it from Drugstore.com, but I'm sure you can find it other places, as well.

Olive oil should help moisturize the skin without burning. Or aloe, although that sometimes gets sticky. If you soak in an oatmeal bath, that should help the sunburn as well as the chafing. And next time, definitely use baby powder to help minimize the chafing.

That sucks, and I really hope you find some relief soon! *hugs*

Don't put olive oil on the rash. Oils on injury (rash or sunburn) is NOT a good idea, same with lotion. Use the aloe on the rash and sunburn for soothing and healing. I do agree with baby powder, body glide, etc. to prevent the chafing in the future though.
  • I swear by monistat anti chafing cream. I buy several tubes in the spring to wear when I wear skirts and dresses.

Try some a&d ointment, or desitin.. I know these are for baby butts as well, but they help with chaffed areas.. Also baby powder to keep the are dry.

Ooh, I never would have thought of Desitin for that. That certainly would have helped when I was running around a Los Angeles convention recently in a skirt. I came home with what looked like raised welts on the inside of my thighs from the chafing. YIKES!

This, without a doubt. I've found that Gold Bond medicated hurts like hell on raw, chafed skin, but a good cornstarch baby powder at night, a good baking soda bath/soak before bed and before powder, and A&D before exercise can help a LOT.

    Good luck!

To prevent: Body Glide. If you can't find that, get Aquaphor.

try sitz bath! It is basically a small tub of water that you sit on. It is great relief the whole bottom.
  • Desitin creamy mixed with corn starch. the zinc will heal and sooth your skin while the corn starch will keep anything from getting to it. Baby powder while you are walking will work.

Ask for "Butt Paste" at the pharmacy--for diaper rash. Or A&D ointment.

The Butt Paste is on the shelf, you don't have to ask for it.

My boyfriend's gotten this so bad that he has scars. He works outside on cars and he uses medicated gold bond but his friend recently advised him to get some biker type shorts. They're skin tight and keep the fabrics of pants and undies from chaffing skin. (Friend was a track runner so I'm guessing he knows his stuff)

I used to chafe but I work out in tight bike shorts also and have had no complaints.

clean the area with antiseptic disinfectant mixed with clean water, dry it properly by dabbing, not rubbing with a towel, then use talcum powder. either normal everyday talc, or you can get medicated talc from your chemist.

and every time you are about to set off on a walk, apply more talc to soak up any sweat.
