I've been using MFP a week and am now getting around to posting in the forums.
My highest weight was 440 lbs. I was always the fat kid in school and long since lost count the number of times I was pulled into the nurses office at school to discuss my weight problem. I was on several diets growing up, including being bribed with money by my grandmother, and the weight always went up and down with no successful way of keeping it off. As a result my childhood felt like a hell, being teased constantly and in high school the one no one wanted to date because it would hurt their image. Surprisingly, I was popular because I was nice to everyone, smart and actively involved in leadership, music and advanced placement classes.
I had gastric bypass surgery in 2007 and have dropped nearly 180 pounds. I've been maintaining my weight for the last two years or so but finally am in a place (i.e. not working while going to night school, planning a wedding, working two jobs, etc) where I can work on getting to my goal weight (200 lbs).
I'm currently working as an Administrative Assistant for a company that installs satellite TV. I have a Master's Degree in School Counseling and worked last year as a part-time School Counselor at an elementary school. I love it and more than anything want to be working Full-Time in a school setting. I also am a month and a half shy of celebrating my one year wedding anniversary with my husband and best friend; who I met about 9 months after my surgery.
So far I've found this site to be very helpful in keeping me on track and aware of what I'm eating and how much. Now that I can eat a bit more, I have found I don't always make the best food choices, especially when busy or in a hurry. I love the food tracker because I can lay out what I'm doing and unlike my Wii Fit, it doesn't chide me if I miss a day working out or didn't do as well on an activity as normal.
