I rarely eat when I'm not hungry. But I might have an extra glass of wine if the calories are just sitting there waiting to be consumed. I'd rather have a buzz than go into the dreaded starvation mode. :drinker:

Drinking alcohol to prevent a reduction in metabolism is kind of self-defeating...

    Did I meniton the buzz??

lol yes, yes you did

I feel you on this one. I'm also gaining at the.moment and sometimes I feel like a bear going into hibernation.4000 calories of healthy wholesome food is no easy task. I've gotten to the point of actually liquifying my meal to get it down. I will not fail. EAT BIG LIFT BIG GET BIG. I'm not complaining though I enjoy this much more than the cut, but it does have its disadvantages.

LOL bro, use IIFYM. You will be fine eating a few more calorie dense foods to get that 4000 in. =)

Lol liquified oatmeal and eggs with ice and protein powder isn't really that bad. Hahaha Arnold did it. Just don't try with chicken and vegetables. Bad f.n idea....

I'm considering taking a week off of MFP, and just writing down what I eat without looking it up.. has this worked for anyone? I'm afraid (ironically) that I'm eating more to satisfy the 1700 calories I'm given everyday.. and now I've gained 2 pounds back.. :/
    Any tips? Advice?

A few years ago after losing 55 pounds I realized that this was a very time consuming project to log my food, journal, etc. I thought that I wouldn't have to do it "forever" and should learn how to adapt. Well after gaining 20 pounds back and taking 3 years to find my first step back up on the wagon, I decided I am a lifer here. I simply MUST be accountable. Otherwise you forget that your old, comfy over eating habits are right there waiting for you in a week moment. First it is that cookie, then it's the beer, then it's another beer, a piece of pie. IT all starts adding up very quickly and I lost it. I held stable for 2 years and only gaining a few pounds at first. but I never did make it down to 135. I was only 18 pounds away and gained 20 back. Now I am about 10 pounds away from my goal and I realize that aside from being away from my computer for extended periods (my cell phone only makes phone calls!) I MUST be accountable to myself on a regular basis or risk failure again. It is way too hard for me personally to start over.

I didn't see anyone address that part of your question. I realize mine was an extreme case. But I think it comes down to if you can't judge your calories adequately throughout the day NOW while you are logging, what makes you think you will be able to do a better job if you stop it altogether? I know you don't want to do it forever. But you better get it right while you are working MFP before you try to fly alone. Good luck to you!
