Hi just started using myfitnesspal on Tuesday and just found the forum tonight. Anyway I am a 35 year old male in Palm Coast Fl and I am planning to lose 60 lbs as fast as I can.

  • I thought I would give a little more back ground on myself. My goal is to lose 60 lbs, get my weight down to 200 again. I was laid off from work(I was 210 at the time) about a year ago and lack of physical activity helped me put on 40 lbs quickly. In April I started working out in hopes to get myself in better shape again. After working out for two weeks and taking a few supplements I noticed a change in my body, not the good type. I noticed my testicle had gotten huge, I went to the doctor and was sent out for an ultrasound, and got bad news, I had testicular cancer. Due to the size of the tumor I went in for surgery the next day. I could only do light physical activity for the next six weeks. So other then walking to the bathroom and refrigerator I did nothing except sit on the couch.

Now that my stitches were healed I was allowed to get back to the gym to start light cardio. I went for about two days then my radiation treatments started. The next time two times I went to the gym I felt sick. So I stopped going again. For the next two months I underwent radiation treatments and felt sick everyday, so I sat on the couch, and put on another 10 lbs, bringing me up to 260.

What I did not realise is that I was one of the 5% that have reactions to radiation treatments. I thought my symptoms were normal so I never complained to the doctor. I ended up in the emergency room at the end because I had radiation poisoning and my liner on my intestines and stomach were gone causing me to get severely dehydrated and almost die. I had to take some antibiotics for a while to get my body to heel. Also I had to wait a while so I could get back into the gym without causing it to happen again.

Three weeks ago I got back to the gym. My goal to lose this 50 pounds I put on the last year and another 10 taking me down to 200. I know I can do this but I was not seeing any results the first two weeks. I started looking at my diet and could not figure out why I was only eating 1500 calories a day from what I could figure out. So I wanted to start tracking my eating habits so I did an Internet search and found MFP and added it to my phone. The first day I saw a few problem areas my sodium was about double what it should be and my fiber intake was almost nonexistent. I have been making adjustments to these and going to the gym everyday. Now I am losing weight and can see my belly already going down.
