Hey everyone. I just wanted to mention that its not necessary to eat "diet food" especially if it doesn't satisfy you. I am one of those girls who really loves my sweets. Hell I could eat chocolate all day every day if I didn't gain anything from it. So, when I'm craving chocolate, I have it, but I don't go overboard. I do not keep it in the house though. I usually only just get desert on the weekends. I used to do fat free, sugar free chocolate puddings during the week, but that did not satisfy my cravings. Now I do regular chocolate pudding, and guess what, I haven't even thought about having one in about a week! But its there when I want it. Funny how that happens. Also, once a week in the mornings, I treat myself to home made french toast with hot chocolate with light whipped cream. I used to have 2 pieces of french toast (that would use 1 whole egg) and I recently started having just one piece and putting the other one in the freezer for the next time. Works for me! With the hot chocolate, I used to use 2 hot chocolate packets with a full mug of milk, I love the creamy chocolately flavor! Now, I fill my mug half full and use only one packet of hot chocolate. It still tastes the same! I've made a lot of healthy changes to my diet, but I'm never going to be that person that never allows themself treats and chocolate. As long as I know that, then I make it work for me. Do what works for you. If you don't like eating rice cakes that taste like cardboard, don't eat it just cuz its diet food. Find something you like that satisfies your sweet tooth!

Im the same way, I dont like the taste of "lite" stuff & "fat-free"
I use regular ranch, regular sugar in my coffee, real butter etc. I use a little less.
The only thing I switched was to low fat coffee creamer.0 -

Pretty much ditto for me. Portion control was the key. I have been making healthier choices but if I want pie or a hamburger at Burger King I still do it (switch to whopper jrs). My chocolate cravings are satisfied by dark chocolate nugget size candy. It has made all the difference.0

Amen!! I'm a big food lover too and am so glad I finally figured out that I can still lose weight and be fairly healthy even with the occassional treat. And I'm so much happier this time than previous dieting attempts!0

I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU! I know I can't give up my treats. I allow myself to have them and find I don't binge on them because I have deprived myself, and like you, I don't want them as often because they are here. I do try to "hide" them on myself so I forget about them or don't want them because I see them. I still ahve Girl Scout cookies in our downstairs fridge because I don't go in there much. My puddings are in the back of the fridge upstairs, cookies are in the back of the cabinet, and candies are in a locked cabinet out of site. It works for me. I'm not looking to eat clean forever, just looking to be healthier and happy0

I agree as well! I still eat everything I love, I just don't gorge out on it.0

i definatly think this is true
all things in moderation
and if you really fancy something - go and have it - but maybe a smaller bit of it then previusly - but have it or else you cant stop thinking about it and end up binging on it... if that makes sense0 -
Nice post, I wholeheartedly agree!0

I'm so glad there are others like me that feel that way about food! Yay to us for doing what is best for us!0

I am a fan of moderation but I also champion healthy alternatives.
For example I portion control bread and pasta but also swapped white for wholemeal / brown (as it keeps you fuller for longer so you get more mileage out of your calories). I also only buy small loaves of wholemeal bread these days (a slice is 60 cals)
I swapped red meat for white meat and if I am having potatoes I go for new potatoes - 140 cals for 200g!
I use my food diary to log as well and idf something is high in calories I know to swap it.
I am 1200 cals a day and have been since I started so I know how to utilise those 1200 cals0 -
I agree, but I like having the willpower to not give in to cravings.
Now, I don't even want sweets.0
