My new hashtag on twitter! ;) 5kin50states

For those that don't know, my husband and I are selling everything & moving into an RV in TWO MONTHS. I started a blog www.geekyexplorers.com in January to document our transition & then our travels.

As I am in week 4 of the Couch to 5k program, I was thinking about when to schedule my first event.

Then I started thinking wouldn't it be cool to be able to run a 5k in every state.

My newest post that announces this crazy idea!

http://geekyexplorers.com/?p=650

Maybe I can meet up with MFP people everywhere! :) Seriously - join our page on facebook (geekyexplorersonfb) as I will announce what event & where I plan on signing up for. First event will be in Oct in the Atlanta/Columbus GA area. Researching now. :)

I love this idea, it sounds fabulous and to live in my trailer year round and tour the country - heaven!!! Myabe someday when I am able to retire (if that day ever comes) maybe I will try and give this a shot in some manner myself. I am from Canada so maybe I would do every province....it would be fun =) Thanx for sharing!!!

Oh btw your blog is awesome, love it =D
  • Thanks Jesa - I think it will be a cool way to keep me motivated. I've looked and there are so many cool orgs you can support & events to attend all over. :)

oooh every province would be cool too! I've only been to two myself.

And don't wait until you retire...we aren't. ;) We're going to have to work on the road & travel to make it work.

Thanks for the kind blog words too!

You and your husband and 4 dogs in an RV?
  • correction... 1 dog 3 cats.
But yes it's still a tad nuts.
We were actually just featured on another blog that tells our story of how we came up with this crazy idea. (or rather how I finally agreed to the idea after 15 years)

I would love to pack up, sell everything and leave tomorrow and I would in a heartbeat if I could afford to and was able to still work on the road. Some day, first I need to get some financial issues under control.

I made a note of your blog and I plan on keeping up with you guys and seeing how things go for you, it will be such an interesting adventure.
  • Okay! I did it! I signed up for my very first 5k in my quest to run #5kin50states. I will be at the Candler Fall Fest in Atlanta, GA 10/15! Tomorrow I will be on W5D1 of Couch to 5k so here's hoping I continue to make good progress!

My goal for this first 5k will be to finish it! We head on the road starting 11/2/11 and there are already 2 other 5k's I have my eye on - one in MS and one in LA.

Updates will occur on our twitter account @geekyexplorers and our blog www.geekyexplorers.com

Anyone else planning on running a 5k soon? Or will be at the Candler 5k?!?

I became a C25k graduate last Thursday and I am so happy to be done and so happy that I managed to finish and that I learned to love running.

I have already completed 3 5K's as I was going through the C25K program and I have signed up for one a month for the rest of the year and I am already looking into what I can do next year. My next 5K is the Terry Fox Run on Sept 18.
