I've never found a decent recipe for cheddar bay biscuits, always disappointed how un-spiced and blah they are. So after some sleuthing and one bad try I finally arrived here at a great recipe! They're not exactly the same as the ones from red lobster but are really similar! I don't like Bay seasoning much, so I just used a few key spices. Definietly not healthy, but darn good! Couldn't resist sharing. Here's what I came up with. You could substitute things to make them healthier if you want, but here's the full meal deal version:

Biscuits:
2 cups all purpose flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp dried parsley
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp ground cayenne pepper
1/4 cup butter flavored shortening
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup light sour cream
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Topping:
6tbsp unsalted butter
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp dried parsley
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp ground cayenne pepper

1) Preheat oven to 450 degrees, prepare a cookie sheet with a lip around the edge with cooking spray.
2) In a large mixing bowl combine flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, parsley, garlis, onion, and cayenne together well with a whisk.
3) Add the shortening and using a pastry cutter or large fork cut/ push together the shortening and flour mixture really well until it's crumbly.
4) Mix in cheddar, then add milk and sour cream and mis with a large spoon until all of the powder ingredients are wet, no need to over-mix.
5) Using an ice cream scoop put 12 two inch mounds about an inch apart on the cookie sheet.
6) In a small bowl or mug melt the butter in the microwave for the topping and add the spices to it, mix together.
7) Bake biscuits for 10 minutes, remove from oven and spoon butter mixture over all of the biscuits evenly the put nack in the oven and bake for 10 more minutes then if desired finish under a low broiler for a couple of minutes to get a nice golden color on top.
Serve warm, enjoy!

Makes 12 servings, the recipe calculator says they're 216 calories each, 17 carbs, 13 grams fat, 386 sodium. could be worse! :o)

hopefully the photo link works, if not I'll try again:

There is a great recipe for garlic cheddar biscuits that are healthy on the skinnytaste.com website. You should try it out. I made them a few weeks ago for a party and they were a huge hit - and low in calories too!!!

Is there not supposed to be cheese in them or did I miss it?

If there's not cheese, add some cheese, chopped up bacon, sauteed jalepenos and it'll be even more like heaven.

Healthy is great 99% of the time but that other 1% of the time is just so dang tasty.
