That is how I eat. My eating evolved greatly from when I first started using this site in March 2010. It was gradual, but steady, until we are at the point we are now. However, my 17 year old son doesn't go for it, so I still have to buy lunch meat, white sandwich rolls, & white pasta for him.

That is awesome!!! I wish more parents would do the same.

We have to remember that if we want affordable and healthy food we have to vote everytime we purchase groceries. The more people vote with the processed, boxed, packaged and frozen stuff - the more expensive and out of reach WHOLE, natural foods will cost.

I cast my vote for local and sustainable produce, meat, eggs and dairy. I don't mind getting in the kitchen and cooking. It is soo worth it.

Just throw the junk away and don't waste money on it anymore! I think it's great that she is showing that it can be done on a budget though. Most people just don't realize that eating whole foods truly does cost LESS. I buy three processed food products a month...the rest is all completely whole foods, vegetables and whole grains. I do this on 50-75 a month....it IS possible!

He's 17...that's old enough to work in most states...I'd tell him if he didn't wanna eat what I made he can buy his own =)

You don't need to be rich to eat like they do. $125.00 per week for a household of 4 people is not a lot of money.

I actually do not allow him to work because I prioritize his education. He is on the school track team and in the school marching band. He has practice 5 nights a week for 2 - 3 hours a night, and events every weekend. There are only about 3 weeks each year that he doesn't have one or the other going on, and that is when he visits his father in Utah. He has his whole life to work after college.
